Harrison Ford Reveals an ‘Indiana Jones 5’ Story Has Been Created

The franchise star reveals that ’a germ of an idea’ for the fifth film has been agreed upon.

Indiana Jones finds his next adventure
Indiana Jones finds his next adventure
Last month, Harrison Ford revealed what he'd like to see out of Indiana Jones 5 and now it seems that a rough storyline has been hatched. BBC recently spoke to Ford, who revealed that he has agreed on a story idea for Indiana Jones 5 with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.

"Steven [Spielberg] and George [Lucas] and I are sort of agreed on a germ of an idea and we're seeing what comes of it."

It wasn't clear if the story ideas Ford had previously mentioned were included in this agreement, but Ford did indicate that it would be quite some time before we saw this in theaters.

"The process works like this," he said. "We come to some basic agreement and then George goes away for a long time and works on it. Then Steven and I get it in some form, some embryonic form. Then if we like it we start working with George on it and at some point down the line it's ready and we do it."

Indiana Jones 5 is in development .

just one more thing... I know we all... myself included, would like to speculate on the next macguffin, although i really am not sure if lucas even knows what that is anymore, but speculating does no good really. we all had some great ideas for the last one, and still have some great ideas, i like the cross of christ idea, but we all know that lucas is not listening... hell, not even sure if he is alive any more, maybe it is just a computer simulation of lucas created by ILM to spit out ideas onto paper, come to think of it the cgi of lucas in interviews these days is horribly done... come on! 5 chins ILM??!! but enough bashing on the "damned fool with idealistic crusades" what suprises me the most though is it took 19 years to come up with crystal skull, but lucas had a new idea in a matter of two years for the new one... this should sincerely make all of us indy fans worried or rejoicing... take your pick. Personally i dont think that lucas would come up with an artifact location such as bermuda triangle, or atlantis, and the crystal skull wasnt much of a religious artifact so it kind of broke the whole idea that they were always based on those types. in my opinion the seal of solomon would be a nice trophied addition to the indy mythos, and would be a perfect relic for any of the bad guys to kill for be it russians, nazi's, chinese mafia, mexican bandits, kkk, black panthers, or u.s government.

what i would love to see, is an indiana jones film that is set maybe 5 years before the last, due to it being relatively close to harrisons age in the fourth film. even the first three were not in chronological order, doom was set before raiders, the reason i even bring this up, is that although i know all three involved especially ford, love to see the growth of the characters, i really cant imagine an indiana jones family adventure, or a marion kissing indiana jones goodbye as he goes on another adventure, on top of that, although mutt was very evolving character which i like to see in movies, he was very uninteresting to say the least. maybe it was the casting, but i think that if spielberg apologized for doom with last crusade then he should do the same with the next film for crystal skull. on a positive note however, it was awesome to see ford don the whip and hat again, although i feel his performance was slightly a different portrayal in some scenes.

I think it's time they went the book route, yes there are books.
Harrison Ford isn't the only actor that has been Indy, I remember the TV show. It did last three TV seasons and it was enjoyable.

Please make Indiana Jones 5. I just saw the first one for the first time, and I loved it!! It's one of my favorite movies now. I think you should make another one because people like me who weren't around when the first ones come out, should get a chance to see him back in action. Me especially. He' my tv herro, and they'll never be another like him. Please take this comment serriously. You should just go ahead and film it. Who cares if you make it and every one hates it and you don't make tones of money. At least you'll still have me as a fan. Who cares what every one else thinks. Why don't you try doing what Indiana said in the Raiders of the Lost Ark. When a guy asked him what he was gunna do next, he said, "I don't know, I'm making this up as a go!" So, you guys should just go for it, be adventurous!! Make Indiana Jones live on!!!!!!!!!! Any one who agrees with this, please comment!!!!

If this movie does happen and that is a HUGE if because Lucas will be too busy driving the Star Wars franchise down into the 9th level of hell...for traitors...it will be a movie about the One True Cross, the Cross which Christ was crucified on. Probably, given the time lines, it would probably involve Communist China because we've already seen Nazis and Russians. Just a thought.

I dig the Excalibur and The Antikythera Mechanism idea, if only because no one can say beyond a shadow of a doubt what the hell that thing is or was used for. Time traveling aliens...nice tie in with the craptastic 4th Indy movie.

I've never heard of a lost book of solomon, but it sounds interesting. x)
They already did a movie about that in Constantine.
I just thought of something else: The Antikythera Mechanism.

I agree that Atlantis would be an interesting concept. Pandora's Box, unfortunately, is a pipe dream. It only has mythological beings involved-Zeus, Prometheus, and Pandora. There are no historical beings like Moses or Jesus(religious beings, but also known to have existed). To use the Box would mean the Greek Gods are or were real, and any alteration to the origin of it would make it something else. I like the thought, but it's near impossible to make work for an Indy flick. Indy chases artifacts of history, not mythology.

Don't kid yourself in believing that your opinion actually matters, Mr. MR. ;P

I agree with the Fallen. While a risky shot, Atlantis has potential and would be amazing on the big screen. I also think the Bermuda Triangle or the Easter Island Heads would be interesting (@Rudy: excellent list, by the way)

WHAT THE HECK!?!?! the last Indiana SUCKED with the whole ALIEN/SCI-FI crap it better be good or else indiana jones might go down the drain the first three were great when harrison ford was young not saying he isnt a good actor older but the Crystal Skull just sucked up my pleasure for the Indiana Jones series i enjoyed the first three but the fourth SUCKED and i hope that they can do better if not once again Indiana going down

For me, its Atlantis (which could be really corny so its a big risk going for something that big), or Pandora's Box. Two very intriguing items. I mean they need to go back to popular relics or cities like Raiders (Ark of the Covenant) and Last Crusade (The Holy Grail). Temple and Kingdom lacked that so it was more mysterious but more factitious so they made up for it with corny jokes in both of them.

Not that they were bad, but basing it off of something already established in popularity, gives you more chance to creatively build on it, instead of creating something entirely which seems even more unoriginal than a city under water.

although i disliked the previous one, i don't mind giving them a chance on this. But this 'news' is the equivalent of your friend saying "hey wouldn't it be cool if we did ___ again". there's NO INFORMATION here.

Story Ideas that I believe could be good for Indiana Jones 5:
    (Like Josh said) Atlantis
(This one would be Very Interesting) A story about The Burmuda Triangle
    El Dorado
A story involving Greek Mythology like Zeus or Hercules.
Pandoras box? (Altough Tomb Radier already did one about it)
    a story about stonehenge
a story about the easter Island Heads.
    Shang-Gra La
    A story about King Arthur
    the tower of Babel
    Noah's Ark
    Amelia Earheart
    Flight 19

They should do a story about Atlantis. Lucasarts made an Indy PC game about it years ago, but Atlantis could be a really awesome story idea for a movie.
