Five years ago, sisters Victoria and Lilly vanished from their suburban neighborhood without a trace. Since then, their Uncle Lucas (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and his girlfriend, Annabel (Jessica Chastain), have been madly searching for them. But when, incredibly, the kids are found alive in a decrepit cabin, the couple wonders if the girls are the only guests they have welcomed into their home.

As Annabel tries to introduce the children to a normal life, she grows convinced of an evil presence in their house. Are the sisters experiencing traumatic stress, or is a ghost coming to visit them? How did the broken girls survive those years all alone? As she answers these disturbing questions, the new mother will find that the whispers she hears at bedtime are coming from the lips of a deadly presence.

Mama was released January 18th, 2013 and stars Jessica Chastain, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Megan Charpentier, Isabelle Nélisse, Daniel Kash, Javier Botet, Jane Moffat, Morgan McGarry. The film is directed by Andres Muschietti.

Rooney Mara, who? Jessica Chastain appears as gorgeous as ever in this movie, and it's gothic tone is an intriguing one. But, at the end of the day, it's a horror flick. A PG-13 rated horror flick, at that. It's going to suck, in one way or another.

Haven't see a horror film so promising as this one, it's got the Ring or Grudge feel to it or better.

@basquat what I like to do is discover new directors and hope for the best. I know it isn't Del Toro but you never know, it could quite good. Besides I love creepy films

@dan1 Yeah, I thought it was bad. Not scary either, like the trailer looked like it would be. One of the most disappointing horror films ever; and I've seen a lot.

@crypt I almost thought it was a sequel to DBAOTD for a moment there. Like those little bastards were gonna pop out any time. That movie disappointed me, it just didn't push the envelope.

Mama needs a life, but I'll see it just because of Castain and this Gothic look which allures me so

I am going with a maybe only because of Del Toro.. but not very thrilled

Damn Chastain looks different. Well, if Del Toro approves, I'll give it a shot. Plus it's cool to see Jaime Lannister making it into movies.
