Last month, Guillermo del Toro confirmed he is working on a DC Comics ensemble project entitled Dark Universe, that brings characters such as Swamp Thing, Jason Blood, John Constantine, Deadman, Demon Etrigan, and many more together. The filmmaker revealed that he is about to pitch his take to Warner Bros. and DC, along with a mystery writer he would not reveal the identity of.

"I am going to be presenting my storyline to DC and Warners of where I want to take this universe. We do have a writer, but until that is firmed up, I have to keep it a secret. I hope it happens. It's going really really well. It's like meeting old friends. I grew up with Demon Etrigan, with Swamp Thing, with Deadman, so these are characters that are near and dear to my heart. I'd love to use the origins that are proper to each character. I love the idea of Jason Blood as a paladin and a knight.... I love the entire Constantine mythology, the Dead Man mythology, the Alex Holland Swamp Thing mythology. These are really rich things to well, and to dig."

The article also refers to the project as Justice League Dark, although that title has not been confirmed. Our previous story also mentioned heroes such as Zatanna, Zatara, and The Spectre. No production schedule has been given, but hopefully this gets the green light very soon.

Dark Universe is in development . The film is directed by Guillermo del Toro.

@ROFLitschristian Neither am I, what with their recent "assembling JL" debacle.

If this gets off the ground, then it better be rated R.

holy crap if I get to see deadman in a movie that will be AWESOME he is one of my favorite out of the more obscure characters that DC has...

If he does get this off the ground, I hope he can combine the vision he had in Hellboy and Pan's Labyrinth for characters like Deadman and Swamp Thing and their choice of villain with a tone of CGI that could put Thor to shame (respectfully)

I love this, but I refuse to get my hopes up. This movie seems too good to be true.

DC CAN CONTINUE DARK- These stories that are based on the DC Comics can find great people to work on them in ways the majority of the Justice League crew are unable to. Ironic, I say. Marvel can use their big guns and DC can only use their great gems so far.. The Dark Knight Series was the only one success in recent times, with Man Of Steel (looking forward to) still unproven, and Green Lantern needing adjustments. Watchmen and V for Vendetta were much needed to be made... So I guess, we'll see.. Exciting times though, I think Dark Universe is worthy of being great from what I see so far
