The Lake Placid and Anaconda franchises are set to collide in the upcoming feature Lake Placid Vs. Anaconda. Production is slated to begin this December in Bulgaria, although it isn't known who is writing, directing or starring in this direct-to-video release.

No story details have been confirmed, although the vicious crocodiles of Lake Placid will undoubtedly come in contact with a gigantic Anaconda, and they will have an epic water battle unlike anything seen before.

The Anaconda franchise was launched in 1997 with a theatrical feature that starred Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube and Jon Voight. It spanwned the straight-to-video sequels Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (2004), Anaconda 3: The Offspring (2006) and Anaconda 4: Trail of Blood (2009).

1999's Lake Placid was also a theatrical offering, starring Bill Pullman, Bridget Fonda and Oliver Platt, before spawning the straight-to video sequels Lake Placid 2 (2007), Lake Placid 3 (2010) and last year's Lake Placid: The Final Chapter.

Sony has distributed all of the sequels, although the first Anaconda feature was released theatrically by 20th Century Fox. The sequels have also aired on Syfy.

Lake Placid was released July 16th, 1999 and stars Bill Pullman, Bridget Fonda, Oliver Platt, Brendan Gleeson, Betty White, David Lewis, Tim Dixon, Natassia Malthe. The film is directed by Steve Miner.

Anaconda was released April 11th, 1997 and stars Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Eric Stoltz, Jonathan Hyde, Owen Wilson, Kari Wuhrer, Vincent Castellanos. The film is directed by Luis Llosa.

Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid was a theatrical release. It was not a direct to video release. Only Anaconda 3 & 4 were DTV via Syfy Channel. Anacondas 2 is actually a decent movie. I was working at a movie theater at the time Anacondas 2 came out.

Seen the first two, own one of them the rest I didn't know about.
As of the newer, sounds a lot like the merging of Jason and Freddy.
I wouldn't mind seeing Direct to video versions of that.

Betty White is in Lake Placid.
