Gerard Butler Is Bodhi in the 'Point Break' Remake

Ericson Core will direct this action-thriller centering an undercover FBI agent, who infiltrates a criminal ring. Alcon will begin shooting summer 2014.

Gerard Butler is in final talks to join Ericson Core's remake of the classic action thriller Point Break.

Gerard Butler will play Bodhi, masterfully played by Patrick Swayze in the original, an extreme-sports athlete that strives to achieve nirvana through a series of death defying feats. He saves undercover FBI agent Johnny Utah, who brings him into the crime ring. The part of Utah has not cast as of yet.

Ericson Core is directing from a script by Kurt Wimmer. Broderick Johnson, Andrew Kosove, Michael DeLuca, John Baldecchi, Chris Taylor and Kurt Wimmer are producing.

The original was directed by Kathryn Bigelow and starred Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves.

Point Break comes to theaters August 7th, 2015 and stars Luke Bracey, Ray Winstone, Édgar Ramírez, Teresa Palmer. The film is directed by Ericson Core.

@Brizzy While the only one of those I can speak for is Train Your Dragon, which was great, the rest were not well reviewed. He's just not a name I associate with great movies. But, to each their own.

Oh please, I hope this is the biggest flop of 2015. If they start remaking movies from the 90s we're done for.

    What's next, a Speed remake?

I love Gerard, but f*ck this.

Coriolanus, How to Train Your Dragon, Chasing Mavericks, Law Abiding Citizen and Machine Gun Preacher.
    1. Variation.
    2. Incredibly good acting ability in each role.
    3. Although he puts out the occasional wild card (like every single actor in the history of acting), he has been consistent in putting out great work over the past few years.

@Brizzy Well, that's not really a fair comparison, as the plots of LotR and Narnia are very different. But you're right. Although, when was the last time Gerard Butler was in something good?

@shuabert Thats like saying "Ugh why? They already remade Lord of the Rings. It was called Narnia."
Just because it consists of the same elements doesn't mean it doesn't dectract from the essence of it which is the most important thing. Fast and the Furious is it's on thing, Point Break is another.
Just because you're not interested doesn't mean it's a bad idea. It might be very good.
