Empire magazine has reported that Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time) is going Greek, signing on for the Louis Leterrier-directed Clash of the Titans, starring opposite Sam Worthington.
Arterton will take the role of the demi-goddess Io. "My part is... the coolest part," she said. "Io's not in the original film. Perseus falls in love with her and then [CENSORED FOR TINY SPOILER]. It's a really great part."
Arterton also said that in contrast to the 1981 original Harry Hamlin film, this one is "much more about Perseus' mission, and how he deals with being the son of Zeus."
Warner Bros. Pictures is planning a March 26, 2010 release.
Clash of the Titans was released April 2nd, 2010 and stars Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Flemyng, Gemma Arterton, Alexa Davalos, Tine Stapelfeldt, Mads Mikkelsen. The film is directed by Louis Leterrier.
