Full-Length Trailer for ‘The Runaways’ Starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning

The actresses star as music legends Joan Jett and Cherie Currie.

Yahoo! Movies has revealed the second full trailer for The Runaways, a music-fueled story of the ground-breaking, all girl, teenage rock band of the 1970s, starring Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, Scout Taylor-Compton, Stella Maeve, Alessandra Torresani, Hannah Marks and Brett Cullen. The movie opens in select theaters March 19 and goes wide on April 9.

Check out the trailer below!

The film follows two friends, Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, as they rise from rebellious Southern California kids to rock stars of the now legendary group that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. Joan and Cherie fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley, played by Michael Shannon, who turns the group into an outrageous success and a family of misfits. With its tough-chick image and raw talent, the band quickly earns a name for itself-and so do its two leads: Joan is the band's pure rock' n' roll heart, while Cherie, with her Bowie-Bardot looks, is the sex kitten. Written and directed by Floria Sigismondi, the film chronicles Joan and Cherie's tumultuous relationship on and off stage, as the band starts to break out.

The Runaways was released March 19th, 2010 and stars Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, Michael Shannon, Stella Maeve, Scout Taylor-Compton, Alia Shawkat, Riley Keough, Johnny Lewis. The film is directed by Floria Sigismondi.

Not recommended to the 'conservative' fans of Dakota Fanning. Nice trailer music though agree to it.

  5. CelluloidKid

In the summer of 1977 the group arrived in Japan for a string of sold out shows. The Runaways were the number 4 imported music act in Japan at the time, behind only ABBA, Kiss and Led Zeppelin in terms of album sales and popularity. The girls were unprepared for the onslaught of fans that greeted them at the airport. The mass hysteria was later described by guitarist Jett as being "like Beatlemania"......

The acting looks really half-hearted. Probably gonna fall into the same category as Across the Universe: lots of nostalgic flash with very little remarkable substance.

So the last movie I saw Dakota Fanning in was War of the Worlds. Kids sure do grow up fast.
