Anyone have any idea, if the movie is in the making or anything? Because, really i do hope that they actually make a The Ring 2. I went over to IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base) and looked up the Ring, for the "Orginal" Japanesse version the ring also known as "Ringu" and saw that there was a part 2. (Ringu 2 and/or The Ring 2) I read the movie description for Ringu 2, and it said that the son of i suppose "Noah' begins to posess the same powers as Samara did, when she was a child. I could not for surely translate the whole thing, and this information Could and might possibly be false, because the Movie Description gave the original Japanesse names of the people, and I couldnt really tell what they were actually saying.
Also, I think I read something about a Ringu 3, but that one for sure did not make any sense, the Japanesse named used For Samara, in the Movie Description for Ringu 2, was also givin int he Movie Description for Ringu 3, but it said, that it was a story a bout how she went through college, and how her drama group mysteriously began to loose members to death. I really have no clue what to expect, because the names are screwing with me. But if anybody has any clue, for example if anyone has actually seen "Ringu 2" please reply and let me know what the whole Real Movie Description is! Not the ending or anything... or any spoiliers, just basically the tagline.

I loved the video tape! I went to the actual Ring The Movie site, and watched their T.V. Spot, which had some of the footage from the actual tape, but it wasnt everything and it ended liked a trailer, which was really bad. But the video tape here showed everything!!!
Thanks! I'll be posting for awhile.

Is it just me or did DreamWorks decide that the teaser site for the second installment of the Ring was a bad idea? I have tried to go to it a million times in the past few days and I've got nothing. Anyone have any idea what is going on? Maybe a link to where I can look at some of the stuff that was on it perhaps?

I agree, The Ring was a good movie. But you just had to know they were gonna make a sequal....9 times out of 10 when a movie catches on like that the studio automatically thinks sequal. And as everyone knows, almost all sequals bomb!! But we faithfully go see them anyway 8)

The Ring is a remake of the Japanese movie which has a sequel, maybe 2. Maybe The Ring 2 will be a remake of the Japanese Ring 2.

I think the Japanese version "Ringu" is a good film. It's low budget but alot of Japanese movies look like this one. It had great ideas and it's low budget look and feel lent some reality to it. I have it on DVD, it's a good creepy movie.
I don't know if there is a second Ringu or not. If there is, it would be cool to see it.

The Ring is better in my opinion just becasue they don't stray from the plot too far and the updated creepy images were pretty haunting.
A second Ring could be good but I thought the little girl in the well was finally at peace so the story ends there...

Just curious as to what everyone’s thoughts are about this movie. Personally I was really expecting too much and thought this movie was well, bad. Actually it’s not a terrible movie; just it’s not in the same league as the first one. Honestly I think they should have just left the movie without a sequel.

How about you?

I thought is was waay better than the first. At least, I was freaked out sometimes by The Ring Two, and I wasn't scared at all by The Ring. And alltogether I like the fact they made a new story of the film, instead of redoing the first. I liked it definately! @that kid, it was an argument and someone blurted out "i'll bet you five bucks" towards this other girl and she was like "Okay" and i kind of went along for the ride.

I think this movie really wasnt intended to be a total scary movie, it was just supposed to wrap up what happened and end the story. while making it mildly scary of course. I dont think anybody will have nightmares about this movie. If they do, then they're pussies.

The Ring Two was an a great movie. Although it fails to mention the story from the first movie, you don't have to see the first movie to understand the second. This one had a story of its own which made this movie even better. Most sequels usually feed off of the stories from original movies which lowers the suspense and excitement. However, in this movie the audience were captivated by the suspense of this film. It was hard to tell what the next move of the characters and the storyline would be. Not only was the story excellent, but the special effects helped the movie out with horror. These effects made you almost feel as if you were actually inside the movie. Great movie overall.

03-23-2005, 09:46 PM
nice one lolly, but i disagree on when you said that you dont have to see the first movie to understand the second. All of the classic water running and really weird faces werer from the first, and you wouldnt understand what the water meant until later in the movie or if you watched the first one. I think they showed a lot of refrences to the first one. was it mom or mommy? when she said im not your f***ing mom(my)?

bret
03-23-2005, 10:59 PM
Yea just shows different views. I thought the movie was a complete waste of film. There was nothing scary about it, the entire cg dear had the exact same antlers, which if you know anything about dear, RARLY happens. When you compare it to the first one, it was bad, just plain bad. But as a stand alone movie, it’s alright. The special effects with the water were cool. But I didn’t feel it was a different view that made me not like it, I just found it incredibly corny. I was expecting another horror flick, not a drawn out watered down version of the first one. and about the mommy line, I don’t remember what exactly she said, could of been mommy or mom, I don’t remember.

shaneOmac
03-24-2005, 01:45 AM
I've noticed that to people saying "It sucked" are most likely the people that think that original films are "always" better than the sequels, well... although that's true over 50% of the time... It's not true all of the time. To me, The Ring 2 kept you more involved and interested in the film unlike The Ring 1 that was a bit slow at times. Not a waste of money in my opinion... The film is quite good. It was "Mommy" by the way Sush.

Good Sequels:

GODFATHER II
LORD OF THE RINGS: RETURN OF THE KING
The EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
X2: X Men United
DAWN OF THE DEAD 1978
THE RING 2
AMERICAN PIE 2
AUSTIN POWERS 2 & 3
TERMINATOR 2

There's many more, the above is just an example.

That Kid
03-24-2005, 11:37 AM

Needless to say, the following rant will contain spoilers.

OK so were all aware of the fact that The Ring was a pretty run of the mill remake to Ringu, and we're also aware of the fact that Ringu 2 was not in the same league as the original, but did we really need to change to this? Who the hell asked for this watered down, scare free, rip off of Dark Water? I mean what the hell was the deal with those dear? First horses now dear, what wanders will Ring 3 feature to convince us that all animals are just plain insane??? Why, oh why did we neeed a CGI water girl flying out of the bath tub? Who the hell asked for a mommy to get sucked into the TV set? and on the subject, just how in the hell did diving off a cliff save her from a life of televised doom? Plugging up the well... retarded!!! and would somebody please teach that kid some manners. Rachael this, Rachael that, I dont like saying mom. Every five minutes, somebody just slap that kid and teach him some manners already. In case you hadn't noticed, I really didn't like this crap. It was almost as bad as The Grudge.

The one was quite terrific...the second one was a pale imitation remotely trying to draw interest in the viewers. Nothing really scary, some creepy moments, plot 'holes', bad and annoying acting and too much pretention about trying to match the first one in intensity and suspense...

well, you know how you can tell when there will be a sequal to a scary movie, well i seriously donot think that there will be another ring. but what they could have done to make the second one scarier was they could have put samora in it more. they just showed he in the boy, so it didn't make it nearly and scary as the first one.

STEPHN KING. i absolutely LOVE rose red, pet cemetary, and i also hear tommyknockers was REALLY scary. yeah, house of wax does look like it would be a good time movie.

I still haven't seen Ring 2, but Ring 1 was pretty twisted. I liked it  It was more of a mentally scary movie...not really scary in terms of the movie scenes.

I have only seen the first Ring, which definately scared the hell out of me. Everyone has told me that the second Ring is terrible, and definately not as scary, I have surprised myself by not seeing it. I heard that the movie tried too hard and doesnt have the same eeriness that made the first one so scary.

bloodbath, what you've heard is correct. Watch the 3 Ring movies, both the originals and the 2nd Japanese one. BTW, Stephen King is not a director buddy. I liked both the Amityville Horrors, but the remake was slightly more entertaining while the original follows the actual story and the actual book.

Funny, I thought Steven King was a novelist who had never directed a film in his life. 8O

Carl, get it right! One of my favorite guilty pleasure films of all time, Maximum Overdrive, remade into Trucks, is directed by Stephen King.

I wish Emilio Estevez would've gotten run over by TRUCKS.

He lived. A truck could have slammed through that damned library in The Breakfast Club and flattened him though.
