Is the remake of Day of the Dead that's on the way also a sequel to the remake of Dawn of the Dead? I thought Bub was pretty cool in the original and felt like Day was the best/most underrated of the 3 Romero films. It had to be the most disgustingly gross zombie movie of all time.

Even though I am a huge horror movie fan, and love both the old and new Dawn of the Dead movies (plus Night of the Living Dead is one of my favorite movies) I have yet to see Day of the Dead. None of the movie rental stores around here have it, and although I could buy it on DVD, I hate to buy something I have never seen before. I watched the first 15 minutes of it on the Sci-Fi channel one night, but could not watch the rest. It seemed to have a sad feel to it for some reason. At that point, I suppose the world would be a depressing place to live in, so I suppose the feeling fits the movie. I would like to see them remake the film, I would be curious to see how it would compare to the original, which I do plan on seeing at some point. Sorry, I tend to ramble... lol

Hello, figured my first post here would be one to try and help. The day of the dead is a sequel but it is also a PREQUEl. Does that make sense?

Set in a mental hospital in Pennsylvania, five patients about to be released uncover a secret buried within the compound and unleash a virus (contagium) designed to force Humanity to evolve into powerful creatures capable of astounding feats…and incredible cruelty. In order for this new Human to survive it needs to feed on human flesh: but a bite from these creatures creates a new state of existence, the Creature’s subordinate, the Living Dead. It’s up to our terrified heroes to choose to accept this fate or to fight it, even if it means their own destruction.

So although its a remake, its not the same story by any means.

I thought Bub was pretty cool in the original and felt like Day was the best/most underrated of the 3 Romero films. It had to be the most disgustingly gross zombie movie of all time.

I also thought Bub was one of the best characters. If only romero got all the funding he needed then he could have done the zombie soldiers bit that he wanted to. :)

Day of the dead is a great film. Personally I prefer Dawn of the dead (original), but this is still a great film. And oh boy is it gory! Bub the zombie I dont think will appear in the new aday of the dead film, wouldn't make sense to have him in it if its a prequel, simply because nobody has a clue what the zombies are in Dawn, so to have Dr Frankenstien would be a yes/no decision. They could use his character, but not to the point were he develops a relationship with the ass eater Bub, no need to show a zombie with humanity in a prequel. Just my opinion. What do you guys think?

bub 100% will not be in the new Day of the Dead since it is not the same story. Its a prequel. Lots of info here on the movie http://www.moviesonline.ca/movie_details.php?movie=Day%20of%20the%20Dead%20Co ntagium the folks making the film have been really good at keeping us informed.

I enjoyed the bub character and look forward to seeing somebody remake day of the dead to the original script with all the cool zombie soldiers that were orginally planned.

Cool site I'll have a proper look at it later. I heard that he wanted to use zombie soliders as well. That would have been boss!! But as usual Romero never did get much funding.

Zomie flesh eaters is another good zombie film.

Indeed. quite a bit of discussion on that topic going on. Romero never did seem to get the correct funding and I really think we as fans suffered.

The new remake is a popular item for us but it is not the Day of the Dead remake that some think it is. Not like the Dawn Remake in otherwords :)

I absolutely love a good zombie movie. I love the original Romero masterpieces but also their re-makes, yet unless I missed one, I have yet to see a film dealing with a zombie apocalypse in which multiple times and places are included. I couldn't get enough of the montage footage from the remake of Dawn of the Dead (nothing like showing the Hagia Sofia being overrun by the living dead). Using a small secluded group always draws tension and allows for character development but I would still love to see a film dealing with the global epidemic. I'm trying to imagine a mix between Tom Clancy and George Romero, if that's possible.

Also has anyone heard anything new about Romero and his possible finale to the living dead series? The rumor mill has it titled as Twighlight of the Dead.

Day of the dead definetly kicks ass but Dawn was more original. Here are a couple of others to check out. Bad taste and Dead Alive, both by Peter jackson. Zombie by Lucio Fulci and the Dead Eat the Living, I have know clue who directed this gorefest but it's cool.

Did you mean the Dead Hate the Living?
Dave Parker wrote and directed that one. . .

I am looking forward to the Land of the Dead movie (by Romero!) and Flight of the Dead . . .

What's Flight of the Dead? Please post any links.

Also, I just backtracked this thread and watched the teaser for Day of the Dead: Contagium and the movie looks like shite! How disappointing. . .

Flight of the Dead . . . Zombies aboard Lions Gate 'Flight'

In the wake of such recent undead boxoffice breakouts as "28 Days Later" and "Dawn of the Dead," Lions Gate Films is fast-tracking its own zombie picture, "Flight of the Dead," for a September start date, sources said. "Flight" follows the tale of two zombies being shipped back to their homeland after they are captured. But when the deadly creatures come unexpectedly to life aboard an airplane, the begin to wreak high-altitude havoc. The project is being developed by Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. chairman Andre Link with John Dunning. The original draft of the "Flight" screenplay was penned by Gary Parker and Tom Lavangnino, with rewriting done by Dunning and Lorenzo Orzari. No director is on board "Flight." (edited from a Hollywood Reporter article)

And a different take . . .

The Dawn of the Dead remake was incredibly entertaining, so I've been kind of interested in seeing how good this Day of the Dead remake would turn out. Unfortuantely, this teaser killed most of my interest. Not only does it look cheap (though I guess thats the look they're going for), but it just looks lame.

What do you guys think of it?

100% agreed!

I was weary about the Dawn remake, and when it came there were elements that disappointed me (like running, jump-kicking zombies), but in all, I like the movie a lot, and it's something I'll def revisit.

Now this new DAY movie...ugh...I dont even know if I'll wanna waste my time.

We'll see....I wanna see more footage!

Now almost every Zombie movie fan dint like that element . But iconsider myself a zombie fan and I thought that it was a great idea it made things a lot more scrarier and intense . And me being a huge fan of Dawn of the dead I dint want the remake to be to much similar to the original . I wanted it to be more of a hommage movie whit something new and running zombies was quite new .

One of the reason why i think that the remake of , Dawn... , The hills ..... , texas chain.... , were pretty good movies was because they were done by a long time fan who saw the original movie like thousand times. Cant wait to see Rob Zombie's version of Halloween and i wonder who's gonna direct the Hellraiser remake

Unlike the asians horror remake movies thats done by a guy who saw the movie a couple of times ands wants to copy it in english to make money.

Has for Day of the dead , that movie is the best of Romero for me , And I was really excited about this remake . And i got to say that the trailer his a big disapointment . Hope the score's a lot better then the trailer cuz one of the ting that i did adore in the Dawn remake is the use of great songs in the movie . And what the fuck is Nick Cannon doing in this film now this actor is the definition of overacting. I probably will wait to see this one on dvd

Thats just plain dumb to me , I really cant see why a direcror would remake himself his movies in another language except for money. And I hated the grudge but thought that Ju-on was o.k

Now I think almost every hardcore zombie fans dint like that idea ( I consider myself a real zombie fan and I got to say that I loved that idea but for that film, i'm not sure that it would work for every zombie movie).

Now I talked to a couple of my friends that dont like zombie films , they think that a zombie is not something really terrifiyng it's dumb and slow. But they said that they loved Dawn of the dead because the zombies were more terrorfiyng and they said if they really saw a zombie running after them they really would shit in their pants . So if running and kicking zombies gets more people too loved zombie movies hisin it a good thing

I have quoted you ELrocho as you seem to be the lord of death when it comes to Zombie flicks, at this time I'm home from work early and trying to download the clip of the new movie ( Day of the dead ) but my download speed is currently at 84.8kbps and it is taking a life time to download the trailer, so some time in the near future I'll get to see it,

I have seen some Zombie movies over the years and I have always watched them blankly as they are not down my street but thats not to say I dont like Zombie films or that I would need to wear a nappy while watching but I do find myself thinking about them for a few days after as the growning stays in my head like an early morning song that you just can not stop singing all day,

I'm not to sure if I have seen any of your list of Zombie movies but as some are a few years old I must have? I could do with finding trailers of them to jog some brain cells, I do recall one on the other hand that seemed to be filmed in a huge shopping center which was freaky back then,

the new movie has Ving Rhymes it would seem and I bet he could kick (Bite) some butt as a Zombie

Krossroads thanks for placing the link to the trailer your a star !!!

I have changed my avitar as you can see and i would like for the month of June to watch as many of Elrocho's list above this way I should be able to get a good grip to the stories before watching the new up and coming Zombie flick

Hell, the preview for the new Day of the Dead already looks absolutley nothing like the original, which I am sure we all suspected anyways.....I will still go see it though, I can not get enough of zombie flicks...that are done well anyways....

I am also really, really looking forward to Romero's new zombie flick and his new take on the genre with the style he is filming it in....

The original is a classic in itself. My favorite is Dawn of the Dead, Romero is king when it comes to the zombie movies. I didn't mind the Dawn remake, it stands on its own feet. But this day remake just doesn't look worth the effort
