The clown was very scary, but the spider in the end ruined the whole movie, it was too stupid. I guess he couldn't figure out how to end the book and a spider walked over his foot or something.
Always hated clowns myself. Hell, I didn't even like Santa as a kid!

Haven't seen it (get It? eh? haven't seen It! Oh, nevermind...), but I do hate clowns. Most of them, anyway.

Sorry, that was a bad slip. It is so old already I was assuming everyone had seen it I guess. Well now you know.
You should still see it anyway it is mostly good.

IT is one of my favorite King films, the funny this is I am almost 30 years old and didn't see it until two years ago. My girlfriend was with me one night at the video store and urged me to get it, I brought it home, watched it, and rreally enjoyed it. Tim Curry made the movie as Pennwise, as someone stated earlier the spider thing almost ruined it for me, other than that it was great!

I bought the DVD at Walmart for 9 dollars for kicks and was suprised at how silly it is. The novel was a lot scarier and dramatic. IMO there are two reasons why the movie is frowned upon compared to the novel. A) the book has a lot of very dark themes in it and is for mature readers and B) it is a TV miniseries and they couldn't make it too scary.
My two cents.

IT was a good film and pennywise was horrible, I hated when they look in the photo album and the picture starts moving, then Pennywise swings off the lamp post and roars at the kids..........Then I checked for stains on the carpet!
But I have to say that the spider was crap at the end.
Another King film I enjoyed was The Stand. Wasn't a big film but I really enjoyed it. It was made for TV and has 5 or 6 parts to it.

Book was great - movie sucked IMHO - I'd put it in the absolute worst King adaption category along with - The Stand, The Tommyknockers & The Shining remake.
They could do a season (or two) of the Stand on HBO - now that would rule.

Alot of people will agree with you. But I just seemed to like it. We all a have a few films like that.

Now, Dark Stream, you have IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS as your icon. That has to be one of the greatest overlooked horror flicks of all time. True King inspiration, but pulled off the way all of King's SHOULD have been!

I still hate clowns so I liked the first half of the film, however anyone who has seen the second half or read the book would not even put this in the top20 horror films of all time. Maybe the second half was so bad beacause the main character had that huge growth on the side of his face, no, I think it just sucked.

Like Garfield83, I really liked the Stand... then again, the last time I saw it was when it first came out, and I was 6 or 7 at the time... The crows scared the crap out of me! And I was spelling everything "MOON" just like the retard guy. As for IT, I think it's quite lame now, but when I first saw it when I was 3 or 4, it was pretty fucking scary! I still hate clowns to this day... Anyway, the only thing I really like about it now is the fact that Tim Curry's in it... the man's a genius! At least, he used to be, before he got fat and had to resort to being in movies like Charlie's Angels. *shudder* Oh and I also liked the over-use of blood... it was quite unrealistic, but it entertained me nonetheless.
Best line ever: "We all float down here, Georgie! We all float!"
God that was creepy!

Tim Curry will always rule...and as for Charlie's Angels, they may not be the Godfather, but they're definitely a good time.

No, I'm not joking. Charlies Angels are campy and funny and have some great mindless action scenes. And yes, you are useless.

Haha, now children, be nice! But sorry Clark, I'm afraid I have to side with Reno on this one... although, I can admit that the first one wasn't THAT bad. Full Throttle was just painful, though.
