The town has been sealed off by the aliens to contain the infection. The acid rain and abductions are done by the aliens to get rid of the infection. The aliens leave when they assume that Rene (Felicity Mason) is the last person who needs to be cleansed. But after they leave, Wayne (Rob Jenkins) re-introduces the plague, thus dooming most of humanity.
