My apologies if a similar topic has already been started.

My picks:

- Pearl Harbor (the teaser)
- Ultraviolet
- Judge Dredd
- League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
- Fantastic Four (trailer with APC music)
- The Phantom Menace

Well... The Village...
Well maybe the trailer wasn't super either, but the movie was SO crap, that the trailer actually was giving the wrong impression about the movie...

I enjoyed Kingdom of Heaven.
And the Director's Cut was one of my favorite films.

I see a lot of Kingdom Of Heaven bashing. If you haven't taken the time to see the Director's Cut then I really reccomend doing so. The film stacks up with Gladiator with the restored footage.

Also. Saw = Good Trailer = Worst Movie Ever.

A film back in the 80s called XTRO, I had never seen such an amazing trailer, a woman actually giving birth to a man.. believe it or not.. a giant action man coming to life and attacking a family..

Went the cinema the following week to see it.. bloody crap.. avoid at all costs..

Bink, you nailed it with Lady In The Water. I didn't even see it in the theater, I rented the DVD, and still I felt as if I'd been really ripped off!

I dint like Kingdom of heaven but i havent seen the directors cut (well not sure i saw it on dvd) but i doubt that i will put it on the same level has gladiator.
Has for saw this movie you either Loved it to death or hate it to death , I loved it to death but I do think that the writer's of saw really dont know shit about writing cops character specially in the first one

I agree with you 100 percent, except I haven't seen Saw.

I advise that you watch It , like i said it's a 50/50 chance that youll love it , and since your a fan of Lost it will be a plus for you to see Ben in a horror flick

Yeah I was going to get around to it but I just piled up on other films before I got the chance, and eventually forgot. I'll watch Saw soon or a later.

Gladiator is my favorite movie, and I like Kingdom of Heaven almost as much. I haven't seen the Director's Cut, but I have read about the restored scenes and it does make the movie make sense (like why the hell the queen suddenly got all gloomy and despairing). Too bad Hollywood execs prefer to rip their own movies just to try to get a few more bucs at the box office.

Oh yeah, to the topic at hand: best trailer to worst movie I have ever seen (or recall right now, anyway) is Pearl Harbor. Both the teaser and the full trailer kick ass, and then you see the movie and you are going WTF JUST HAPPENED?

I guess you can add The Phantom Menace to the mix, except that the ratio of great trailer/awful movie wasn't as bad and a lot of the coolness factor of the trailers was due to all the hype surrounding a new Star Wars movie after 16 years.

Well, I think "The Village" is a good movie that was hurt the most by the trailers making it seem like a horror flick when in reality it was a love story. When you have certain expectations for a movie and it turns out to be the complete opposite, you tend to get pissed off by it. ;)

Second that, while that kid ruined every scene he was in I thought the build-up and structure leading to the "duel of fates" was amazing. Liam Neeson saved that movie and I don't know about everyone else, I liked Jar-Jar, lol.

Aoshi if you like the very undercut Theatrical Edition of Kingdom of Heaven almost as much as Gladiator, I'm almost positive the Director's Cut will elevate it to the same, or maybe even better, status.

Phantom Menace was probably the most complete film of the new trilogy. Revenge of the Sith WAS my favorite of the three, but the wooden acting really held it back towards the end. If you're watching it with a good sound system, the pod race scene alone is better than episode II.

Yeah I loved the pod race scene.

Agreed. Sebulba's engine is orgasmic to my eardrums. lol. I thought the only good acting out of Episode III was of Ewan McGregor especially on Mustifar after he severed Anakin's limbs. He's definately come a long way.

I would like to add Hot Fuzz to the list here.

The Phantom Menace would have been on par with the original trilogy if it wasn't for Jar Jar Binks. If you were wondering if one character can thoroughly ruin a movie, there you have the answer.

Episode III was more passable simply by the lack of Jar Jar in it. But Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor were perfect as Jedi, the pod race was great, and the Darth Maul saber fights were the best (choreographywise) of the entire saga, including the original trilogy.

I'm one of the few who really dint see why people hated JarJar that much, I thought that that character was o.k but still disapointed that they dint go with the fisrt choice they had in mind to play Jar-Jar a french canadian artist call Michel Courtemanche

Oh my, how could I forget Troy? The teaser was amazing, the trailer even better, and the movie sucked balls. Yeah, both Achilles and Hector were great, but jesus christ so many expectations went down the drain with this movie.

I thought Troy was fantastic all together. but that's just me.

I must say that the trailer for Miami Vice was great. I saw the movie and it wasn't great. There was a terrific shoot out and that was the only good thing about it.

ObnoxiousElephant

Troy was an abysmal failure, to the unbelievable environment, incoherent story, to even the horrible score by James Horner. The only redeeming aspect was the somewhat enjoyable nature of it, the battle between Achilles and Hector, and some pretty decent battle scenes.

I actually enjoyed Troy as well. It wasn't even close to the epic it could have been, but it was a pretty enjoyable straightforward action flick. And Brad Pitt was badass, plus all those great old actors like Gleeson, O'Toole, and Cox.

Mortal kombat Annihilation - tricked everyone by showing all these characters who turned out to have cameos and little/no relevance to the story

1408 - the trailer gave me chills, but the movie was very dull. John Cusack gave a performance of a lifetime, but the direction of the film was boring.

i have a backwards one, i hated the trailers/ads for Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but I got to catch a preview screening and I really enjoyed it. The comedy in it was really good and it was a bit more romance than just ass humor.
