  • This sucks!!!!!!!! They are moving Smallville to Wednesday nights at 7. What was wrong with the time that they did have it?

  • Smallville sucks ass anyway. It is an insulting bastardization of the superman legacy, and the staple of WB programming, weakly written and horribly acted teen drama. I seriously cannot understand how anyone can actually stomach this show.

  • What are you talkin about? How is it a bastardization of the Superman legacy?

  • They took a deep character and a symbol of hope that WAS the original superman, and they turned him into a p*ssy lovesick kid. That's how, and I hate them for it. And did I mention the acting sucks and the writing is weak?

  • This isn't off of the Superman comics it's more taken from the Superboy comics. Of course he's lovesick. He's a freakin' teenager. And if you watch the Superman Movie at the beginning when Lana is around he acts a little lovesick there. Plus anytime he was Clark and not Superman he always acted P*ssy (i.e. Lois having to defend themselves from a robber.) Anyway the writing has gotten better since the first season. Plus, bastardization of a comic book movie is pretty strong language coming from someone who liked The Hulk, a movie for which the Hulk hardly showed up for.

  • Hulk was in the movie plenty enough to make it work. On the topic of smallville, Clark was never a "p*ssy" in the old comics, he was just a huge nerd. Theres a difference. The kid in this show always looks like he's going to listen to emo and slit his wrists. He just looks p*ssy. And the point is, what? Why did they have to make this show about Superman? The didnt. The entire theme of the show would work exactly the same had they just made up their own superhero, or not made the show about a superhero at all. The only reason they used Superman was to capitalize on the name, which in itself is a travesty to the legacy. I have no problem with a show about Superman that is done in a dramatic/romantic sense. The first two seasons of Lois and Clark were great. Partly because Terri Hatcher is just so damn good, but largely because they didn't just make up some half-assed stories and throw Superman into it. No matter how much I watch Smallville, it just gets worse.

  • Ok, if they could have made up their own character to fit into all of that, then I think they should have at least made up a plot for the Hulk instead of just a 2 and a half hour character development that is shallow at best.

  • A disagreement on Hulk really shouldn't factor into an argument on Smallville because the two are nothing alike. Still, Hulk was a good CHARACTER drama. That can be done in a movie, because you only have two hours to get something across. If you are trying to look into the characters during that time, that's what you do. A telelvision show on the other hand, has to focus on other elements besides that, becuase you can only dissect the characters for so long before theres nothing left to dissect. This means you have to rely on well-constructed stories and good acting, or at least a lot of mindless action if thats what youre going for. Smallville doesn't even do that properly.

  • What happened to all that crap you and scorsese were saying about you can change stuff about a comic book character because of the director's style and vision? Does that not apply if it's over a character that you have your icon set to?

  • Thats not what I'm saying at all. There was changes made to Spiderman for the movie, and I loved it. What I'm saying is that with smallville, there weren't merely changes made, there was a complete raping of the character. There was no care and attention to make sure that this was still in the spirit of superman, it was too much like superman was just thrown into an already weak show as an afterthough, as I said, to capitalize on the already well-known name.

    Testify brother! I LOVE Smallville!

Yeah it's cheesy and the plots are goofy, but it's FUN! If you ever read the Superboy comics you wouldn't hate this as much, they were SO LAME! He had a flying dog for god's sake! Not to mention the voice of Jor-El was done by none other than Terrance Stamp (AKA Zod!!!) who's the best villain ever ;)
Personally, I like that the show is trying something new with the Superman franchise. Declan wasn't in to Superman, really but he likes Smallville (although he hates the villain of the week/Kryptonite bad guys but doesn't everyone?)

It's a WB show, and for what it's worth, I think it's the best thing they've got going :)

  • Thankfully they seem to have found their footing and don't rely on the villain of the week anymore.

  • I kinda miss it, Declan made the best jokes about it. Like the one with the girl who stayed young by sucking souls he said 'oh what now, was she AGING during the meteor shower'

    cracked me up

  • My fav was the one with the girl that lost all the weight but had a huge appetite. The part where she hit the deer and walked up to it and her mouth opened up huge was hilarious and stupid at the same time.

  • my favourite was the one(s) with Ryan :( I was so mad they didn't write him into the show, that kid was the best child actor I've ever seen, and I'm not kidding.

  • It's weird, everytime I see MIchael Rosenbaum in something else with hair......it just doesn't look right, you know?
  • I've seen him in two movies and both times he dressed in girl's clothing.

He was in Sorority Boys, and I thought he was hilarious. I think he's just great.

  • What was the other movie? I've seen him in Sorority Boys and he also had a small role in Bringing Down the House.

  • Sorority Boys made me want to pull my lip over my head and swallow, I only laughed at one part and that was something the amazing Harland Williams did ;)

He was also in Urban Legend (I think he gets his liver cutout but I could be wrong). It is weird to see him with hair :)

  • Wow, it's been so long since I've seen that movie I'll have to pull it out and look for him. A liver you say? Interesting, explains the no hair. In Sorority Boys, are you referring to the Chewie yell?
