Forums: Notifications Bar?

Narrator and Dave have already agreed with me so I'm curious to see if others do as well.

Who else would like it if we had a notifications bar that would inform us if someone commented on one of our reviews or wrote on our walls? I don't know about you but most of the time when someone writes on my wall I don't know because I do other things on the site that cause that message to disappear pages away where I never know of it. A chatbox would be pretty cool too but I could live without that. Anyways, a notifications bar? Anyone?

Also, most sites now, like Huffington Post, YouTube, etc. have the option of "liking" individual user comments. That seems like it would be an easy thing to put in place, no? It would fit right beside the flag button, and you could just click it to like someone's comment? Or even better, a thumbs up and a thumbs down button like YouTube has. You could put in place "user reputation" ratings based on this function so that we'd be able to see who is the most popular and respected and who is just trolling. It would no nicely to have a reputation score or bar beneath the "Novice, Super User, Movie God, etc" bar. That way your status on the site isn't just based on quantity, but quality of posts.
