  • I have a book called The Valley written by James Condra and think it would make a great movie. How do I get this idea known to Hollywood?

  • Acquire the rights from James Condra to make the film - if Mr. Condra has passed away, you will have to acquire the rights from either his family or publisher

Pay Mr. Condra (or a different screenwriter) to write a script treatment

Locate an agent and sell him on the notion of representing you, as well as, lobbing the project to various studios (this can be a big deal)

Begin having the book turned into a script

Begin taking meetings with studio heads

Locate an investor for funds since it will take some time to get your project off the ground and into theaters - even if there are no major glitchs with The Valley, you are looking at 1 to 2 years in completing the film (from concept to production to theaters to DVD) - though once the studios invest in your project, any money they give you will be included in your budget

Be aware that Hollywood studios may option making the film - but it may be delayed due to the Writer's Strike currently going on - not to mention the Director's Guild and Actor's Guild about to re-sign as their contracts come up this summer . . .
