  • The Oscar ceremony is now 4 days away. So, it's time to pick the winners. (There may be a post already, but who cares) Also, the smaller categories I am never very good on.

    MY PICKS:

Best Director: Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain)
Best Actor: Philip Seymour (??) Hoffman (Capote)
Best Actress: Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line)

Best Adapted Screenplay: Diana Ossana & Larry McMurtry (Brokeback Mountain)
Best Cinematography: Rodrigo Prieto (Brokeback Mountain)

Best Score: John Williams (Memoirs of a Geisha)
Best Song: Kathleen "Bird" York & Michael Becker (In the Deep (Crash))
    Best Visual Effects: King Kong
    Best Sound Editing: King Kong

Pretty good stuff, my final picks are very simliar to yours. Just to let you know though, the same film NEVER takes both audio awards, no matter how good it was...for some reason it just never happens. And War of the Worlds was done in DTS unlike Kong so it has a better chance of winning sound editing. nice pick on 9 for animated short, its pretty much a dead lock. (Universal has already agreed to adapt it into a feature film for wide release, that's how good it is)

I also differ from you in live action short, doc short, original song, and best picture.
