It's been kind of slow on the boards lately maybe we should bring up movie scores and soundtracks again
Seriously, Let the festivities begin.
Gotta think about this for a bit!
Ok, here goes:
Jurassic Park 3 (uninspired GARBAGE)
Anything with Chris O'Donnel (he's just plain HORRIBLE)
Last Action Hero
Eyes Wide Shut
Splash
Ok, that's enough for now. I'm sure further lists will provide me with fuel for this fire.

The stupids (Most people don't know this even exsisted , but i do I had to sit through it)
Gladiator (nah, just kidding, thought I'd start trouble)
every star trek movie after Wrath of Khan
Saving Silverman (awful just awful)
Actually any movie with Jason Biggs in a major role (including slacker)
Boogie Nights
Its a wonderful life (if I have to see this one more time I'm going on a killing spree)
There are so many !
What didn't you like?
Look, i'm not attacking PTA, i think as a filmaker he is very very good, even brilliant at times. Boogie nights has some flashes of brilliance in it, but it just dragged on and on and was really uneven at times.
The soundtrack had a few good monets...I don't knwo its just my opinion.
Bobby, I never would have expected it.
i know quite a few people who aren't PTA fans. (namely, Kevin Smith fans...hehe)
Personaly, I dig the guy's work. He does have a tendency to meander in his story telling, but his meanderings are often interesting enough where it doesn't bother me.
Look at Magnolia. A lot of people couldn't stand that movie, but I loved it. I think PTA got the most daring performance of Tom Cruise's career out of him. (NOTE: I didn't say BEST performance, I said MOST DARING)
Ok, so back to some sh*tty films. Oh yeah, ANYTHING with kevin Costner (except for Tin Cup) God I hate this guy... Waterworld, The Postman... crap after crap after crap... And yes, I'm not afraid to admit that I think Dances With Wolves is one of the most overrated, boring pieces of cinema ever put to film. Granted, much of the directing is great, and the cinematography is beautiful at times, but as a whole, bleck....
Ok, flame the hell out of me now!

ok...total crap:
Rollerball
ROcky and bull....can't....finish...sentence
any made for tv film
traffic
almost any singer-turned-actor/actress movie. j. lo included
anything basketball with real nba players after space jam......I'm talking to you "Like Mike"....
and why oh why do people like FIght Club so much??!?!?! I almost left, but my friend kept telling me.. "no wait, the end is the best"...wow, norton kicks his own ass. actually, i would rather see norton really get kicked the sh*t out of...not because he's a bad actor...but because he was in fight club.
Lord Of The Rings IS NOToverrated...just maybe overhyped by typical nerds thining they're cool. Read the book...the movie gets so much better that way.
BB
Wow, why the problem with Fight Club? Damn, that's one of my faves.. but to each his own, I guess.
And you mentioned Traffic. What was wrong with it. It's not my FAVORITE movie or anything, but I thought it was well done.
As for PTA, from what I hear, he's gotten a GREAT dramatic performance out of Adam Sandler with Punch Drunk Love. I'm looking forward to it.
Boogie Nights is a great flick. Wahlberg singing "You've Got the Touch" from Transformers The Movie was OUTSTANDING!
~ Kerouac
okay and yes perhaps I have a little "kevin smith fan" bias...by the way I heard about this movie, 32 bucks or something, supposed to kick ass
But I did forget about Field of Dreams, which is actually another good Costner flick, in spite of him being in it. THat story would have held up with ANYONE in that role.
I've heard of 32 Bucks!! Actually, I've read most of the script, and it's F*CKING HILARIOUS! Great stuff....
~ Kerouac
But seriously, Kerouac I also have to agree with you on the whole Costner filmography. Tin cup is the only good one in the bunch( Oh yeah Bull Durham was good as well.... What about the bodyguard?
Other pieces of crap:
Halloween (all of them)
Pitch Black
Armegeddon
all of the Leprechaun sequels
Event Horizon.
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
Ed
HOney I shrunk the Kids
The House on Haunted Hill
The Man in the Iron Mask
Titanic
Just to name a few. Despite this list I really do lIke Sci-fi flicks.
Here's a question.
What about films you hate but just can't help watching every time they're on tv? The one';s that seem to draw you in.
Cypher. Lord of the Rings, crap? Did you see the movie. Outside of the fact that at some points it seemed a little drawn out It was still a great film.
Been up from 10AM to 5:30AM the past 3 days....ugh.
BB
Most of your list I can agree with, but MOULIN ROUGE??
Bad acting?? Lame musical numbers?? Brother, either you just didn't get the brilliance of this movie, or you're completely uncultured. To not like it is one thing. Baz Lurman certainly isn't for everyone, but to call the movie crap, well, that's just irresponsible.
And to say it represents everything that wrong with Hollywood? PLEASE! This movie blew the idea of Hollywood up, then took the pieces and made something NEW! This movie was original, entertaining, well acted, and EXPERTLY directed. It is everything that Hollywood is NOT.
Yeah, Tim Burton is overrated, but you have to admit that Beetlejuice is one helluva flick.
And I agree on Woddy Allen, too, except that Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Sex, But Were Afriad To Ask is classic. So is Annie Hall. Now he's just a tired, wrinkled punchline of himself with renewed popularity soley because of 9/11 and the fact that he's a New Yorker with a hard-on for the town.
Ok, I feel better.
~Kerouac
I can agree with most of your list as well, but come on, Kerouac said it...Tim Burton, you gotta keep giving him credit for things Beetlejuice, batman, and Pee Wee's Big Adventure.
I wasn't that into Moulin Rouge either, but Jesus, you hate it!
Oh yeah, speaking of Costner, check out this e-mail I got for my great review of Dragonfly!!!
"You are WRONG, WRONG, WRONG on Dragonfly
This is a very good movie, and Kevin Costner is excellent in it.....But the
peanut gallery that likes to bash Costner seems intent on leaving him in
critical quicksand."
titanic won't be forgotten (its great)
i don't know why ppl don't like costner. i think he's a pretty damn good actor...i always sense the character he wants to get across...and tho not the best actor, he isn't even close to crap like many ppl think.
3000MTGL...he was great in that film about a 7.5 or 8/10
and dragonfly was a good movie, better than i expected it to be.
and doofy, when did i ever say LOTR is crap? not once. if you recall my first post...
Overrated: Lord of the Rings. easily. though its a great film
I'm going to have to agree with Doofy about Armeggedon and Event Horizon.
Armeggedon was horrible, even for a Bay/Bruckheimer film, and Event Horizon COULD
have been good, but it never decided what kind of movie it wanted to be.. sci-fi thriller
or cheesy horror flick. Not deciding made it weak either way.
And you have to understand, you can't call a film GREAT and OVERRATED... it doesn't work. Either it was a great film (which by definition CAN'T be overrated), or it's a GOOD film, but OVERRATED.
See what I mean?
Later,
~ Kerouac
