Forums: Your Dream Mythological Showdown

  • As we're all aware, ridiculous fantasies and eye-canny ideas run abound on this site. From debates on how best to survive a zombie apocalypse, to whether or not we're in the matrix, I figured our site's a pretty open-minded and light headed community. Because of this, I figured it's been high time since we've given ourselves a channeled forum dedicated to a specific looney topic, and this one just might be one you haven't necessarily thought about before.

What if you were a legend? A man (or women) who did something so amazing, so unheard of, that it deserved universal acclaim and recognition. Your story would be passed down through generations to come. And what was this task of yours? Well, it was only taking on an entire army of (insert fantasy or mythological race here).

Now here's what we need from you before you can go on your merry way, being a legend and all. What we need from you is:

    Basics -
Your Name: Your preferred title, and or alias.
Your Setting: Anything goes on Earth or somewhere else.
    Time Period: Again, anything goes.
Who/What You Fought: Orcs, Vampires, Trolls, Giants, Zombies, Aliens, Werewolves, Ogres, etc.

    Advanced -
Reasoning: Events that led up to this epic confrontation.
History: A brief summary of who you were prior to the engagement.
Weapons and attributes: From powers (explain), to gadgets, to apparel. Go in depth, if necessary, on just how bad-ass you are.

    In Depth -
Characteristics/future: A detailed account of what you look like, and more importantly how you act. Are you c*cky, a quiet soldier type, etc. What makes you tick, and MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL - whether or not you choose to be remembered for this act, and how. Do you want a selfless act done, but unheard of, as you're a marter type? Or do you want a life full of fame and glory for something undeserved? Add complexity to it all, folks.

That's it. Post your stories below, and while you don't have to go all out, it definitely helps the experience and creativity. For all we know, we may help each other write some pretty interesting characters. you get what you put into this forum. Enjoy!

And before you ask, yes... it was a boring day. ;)

  • @dan1, @ejk1 (help me out, buddy), @diaigma, @zanyzap, @moviegeek, @corey, @skywise, @mattbierwagen, @thedude-abides, @slysnide, @brian, @wichitagalzl, @SpaceCowboy, @bryan yentz, @azador, @movie-nut, @daveactor7, @insertusernamehere, @jptheredskull, @pjwolsker, @cupid, and last but not least @bawnian-dexeus.

Hope you guys enjoy, and contribute. I understand that this requires thinking for some, but don't take all day, as it'd be a waste if a what-could-be fun topic got lost in the shuffle of things here on MW. And I hand-typed each of your names, so don't go thinking I randomly tagged you. I looked up some of your individual tag names, because I wanted YOUR input. But whatever, enjoy or don't.

  • Wow! I am impressed. I just don't know if I can dish out something so elaborate. Kind of curious what your dream mythological showdown would be. Might help us have a better idea of how you want us to contribute.

  • Sounds like D&D fun to me :P

Unfortunately I can give you an excellent example, but it's the character from my magnum opus (or will be, if I ever get around to rewriting it). Let's see what else I can come up with. I'll get back to you on that.

Too late to come up with anything tonight. Tomorrow I will see what I can do.

  • Great to see feedback, guys. I can't wait to read each and everyone of yours. I realize now, @SpaceCowboy, that it'll take me a while to upload my little dream finale as well, so I may put up an unofficial test dummy finale, for ya'll to see. Look for it within the next half day or so, or someone may beat me to it.

    @daigma, interesting. I haven't played D&D yet, but I hear it's good stuff.

@narrator Couple things. You've solidified in my mind as a bigger dork than even I am, and I mean that as a compliment. It's hard to top my dorkness, but I think you've done it :P

I can't give this kind of forum the attention it deserves til I'm back in front of a computer, and even then, this sounds like a weekend project to write out. But I will think about it.

  • I'll definitely do this sometime @narrator. Probably won't be for a little bit, though. I still have to write my First Class review, too lol And my sr. trip is tomorrow, sooo...yeah. I'll get around to it haha
I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it.

  • @narrator: I'm in. I'll crank something out tonight or tomorrow.

  • @narrator I'm in a similar situation as @diaigma on this. My friend is writing a screenplay very much based on events in my life, however within a somewhat fantastical arena similar to the one you just laid out. Let me think on this and I'll come up with something that won't infringe upon his work -- even though it's my story he's writing :P
