  • @Moviegeek:I know right. :P
You think Pike and Sykes haven't been watchin' us. They know what this is all about - and what do I have? Nothin' but you egg-suckin', chicken stealing gutter trash with not even sixty rounds between you. We're after men - and I wish to God I was with 'em

  • Yes, indeed you have. Lol, I'd say we should make a club, but that'd seem really nerdy, and unfair to everyone else. I must re-iterate what others have said though, you got your status relatively fast man. It took me 3 years for mine to show up. Congrats.

  • @moviegeek1: No, I agree with you. I'm not the one asking for every film to be original. Hell, I thought Avatar was excellent and there wasn't a lick of originality in it. My point was that people saying that How To Train Your Dragon > Toy Story 3 because Toy Story 3 is a rehashed story are using an invalid argument by ignoring the fact that Dragon's story is just as recycled.

  • @Josh, true points, but the execution of the story is what separated TS3 from HTTYD. While TS3 followed the same basic flow and rule book that the previous films used , HTTYD was practical (losing a limb) and touching (trying to understand something you hate), and for it's sequels, I am more than sure they will go a different route story wise instead of rehashed plot devices. They are based on books after all. That's the difference between the two.

I've always had an affinity for dragons (even though that affinity is subdued as an adult), so they'll take the prize over toys any day in my mind. The fact that is was a damn good, fresh movie helps, too :P

  • @Narrator: I responded to your post about TSN on the previous page (6) of this forum. Don't know if you read it. And I took a crack at answering your question about Nolan on the Oscar Nominations news story.

  • Well, @Supes . . .
If someone asks if you are a god, you can now say "YES!" :P

    Agrees with @Narrator on HTTYD.

  • Thanks @Sly. Yeah, I saw your Nolan comment. I'll have to go back and see the TSN response. P.S. When are we going to start this awards things? And who'll start the forum?

  • @Narrator I don't know what "awards thing" you refer to. But @Diaigma has a game up now called The Oscar God where you can post your Oscar predictions for the no-prize. I would like to keep this forum going for discussion/debate on our guesses though before we post on the official forum.

  • @geek, I'm aware of our Oscar God forum, but Sly had an idea that we say f*ck the oscars, and draft/create our own awards thing ,where we all vote on every category, tally up the votes, and see who gets what. Not a half bad idea.

  • @Narrator That might be fun. Time consuming, but fun. Kind of like when people do the who SHOULD and who WILL win thing, except focusing only on who SHOULD?

  • Now that The king's Speech picked up the SAG tonight, is it's chances at best pic at the Oscars actually conceivable??
