    Terminator 4 news.

Terminator 4 is ready to start production in 2005, but will Arnold Schwarzenegger be back? Variety reports that Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines writers John Brancato and Michael Ferris have completed a draft of a script that was developed under the supervision of "T3" director Jonathan Mostow.

The trade adds that C2 partners Mario Kassar and Andy Vajna are returning as producers, and "T3" financier Intermedia, which has underwritten development so far, will begin the process of setting up the budget for the picture.

Mostow is expected to next direct an untitled thriller he wrote for Paramount. Intermedia will open formal negotiations shortly for a deal that would make "T4" Mostow's next directing job. Intermedia will also meet soon with Warner Bros. Pictures and Sony Pictures, who distributed "T3" domestically and internationally, respectively. Both of the studios have an option to serve the same roles in the fourth film.

Schwarzenegger's availability is the big question mark, since he is the governor of California. There's already been talks for Arnold to return, but it would likely be in a limited role. Variety adds that the expectation is that "T4" will break in a new terminator model.

There's no word yet whether or not Nick Stahl or Claire Danes will return.

  • Well, if they really plan on doing one, i would fancy seeing the human/machine wars of the future...we've had enough of old comebacks through time. What would be nice is to show the start of hte war, the rise of John Connor, his death by the terminator and 'hopefully', the end of the war itself.

The human resistance could re-program a terminator (fcuk the schwarzy face, keep the robot itself) send him in the production line factory of the t-800's and then make everything explode...or cause total destruction of anything able to stop the machines and the war.

Or they do nothing...which would be as good.

  • Dont ever make this film.

If they ever were to make a terminator film I want new characters. Maybe base it during the war with the machines and have a handful of the resistance going in the kill Skynet or something/ I dont want to see Arnie ever again in this film. Maybe John Connor but we need a new hero I think!

It's quite like I've written in my post above. Arnie should not be the terminator again..they should use a mere robot.

And for the skynet destruction, it was said in the third movie that it's a program, it's in cyberspace. So, to destroy Skynet, one would have to destroy ALL the machines of hte whole world. Or we could just pop in a deadly virus in the network, get it infected and wait till it dies... :?

  • Yeah well there's always a core that runs other machines. A source. Kill what powers the machines kill Skynet!

  • Why even make this film (for money, duh, but I'm talking artistic reasons). Why even make Terminator 3? We have a perfect two-film series in Terminator 1 & 2, and it basically tells the whole story. T3 did absolutely nothing for me, in terms of both knowledge and entertainment. But let's just leave it at that, if anything. We have a full circle of a story. What more could you ask for? We've all ready seen the war between the humans and the machines.

  • we only saw seens from the war they could make tons of movies after T3 and still never tell the whole story

  • What story? There's Skynet, it bombs Los Angeles, makes machines, humans go to war, machines go back in time, humans go back in time, war goes on. That's it.

Shynet doesn't bomb Los Angeles. It launches nuclear warheads towards Russia. It's the Russian counter attack which destroys the States.

If there si to be a final instalment, they could just show the human/war machine in tat 2029 AD and just finish with it...no need for Arnie to be in it.

  • Still, why bother? It's basically going to be like watching the same, short scene on your DVD over and over again. The war of the machines is supposed to be a fabled event.

  • The story line would probably cover how Kyle Reese volunteered himself to be sent back in time to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor. All in the whacky apocalyptic Los Angeles.

T3 entertained me but thought of making a 4th movie are beyond me. Maybe they should just make an Alien vs Predator vs Terminator vs Garfield movie.

  • I think the Terminator series should be dead and stayed as a trilogy.

  • I guess I agree with the consensus here. Why make a 4th? It just doesn't seem necesarry. I'll admit T3 was better than I expected, but it was nowhere near 1 & 2. Leave it at a trilogy. And if they must, make it set in the future during the battle with the machines, because honestly, how many times can they travel back to try and kill John Conner?

  • Especially since, in the future, they should have all ready figured out that altering history defies the laws of the space-time continuum all together.

  • I wouldn't like 2 see terminator set in a ruined future with lazers 4 guns. Part of the novelty of these movies r that you can watch terminators chase people with real guns an driving cars or bikes in down town LA. 8O

  • When they made T3 They always planned to do a T4. It was put in hold because uf the Govenator. I myself will look foward to T4

  • I have yet to put my 2 cents in so...

...they should leave it as a trilogy.

  • The governor said he had been approached about making a brief appearance in "Terminator 4,'' but has told producers "they will never see me for one second in the movie" unless the film is made in California. It's planned to be shot in Budapest.

  • It would be cool to see a movie after a big disastor like judgement day. They have all these doomsday movies but they never show the after effect of it. Rebuilding starting over I like those survivor movies and shows.

  • T3 was good, but I think it's time for The Terminator to retire. I think they should end it on a good note.
