  • @brian this is just a thought, but itd be pretty cool if you guys made it so that if we rank something we havent rated it would prompt us to rate the film too.
You haven't seen insert movie here?! What's wrong with you?!

  • @brian This isn't a big issue but if it was fixed it'd definitely help as far as overall organization of the ranking system on face-off. It mostly applies to movies I really like that aren't my favorites, when I go to a movie specifically to rank it higher up often times as I rank it it just bounces up and down all over the list. Face-off gets confused that I could like one movie over another movie but not over another movie that is behind the first movie i compared it with. In turn, the film never gets proper placement. So when we're ranking one movie at a time, it'd help if Face-off remembered which movies you liked better than the one you're ranking and in the end placed them right above on the ranks list. Is this making any sense? Or is it totally confusing?

@mattbierwagen It definitely makes sense how you'd be confused about this. In reality if you're ranking one film into your list, it's really not bouncing up and down the list like you think. What it's actually doing is pitting that movie against other movies in your list. So imagine it working like this...

    You're ranking: The Dark Knight

    - TDK vs. Batman Begins (which is #25 on your list)
    - If you pick TDK to win, TDK now becomes #25 and Batman Begins moves to #26
    - Then, TDK vs. Avatar comes up (which is #100 on your list)
    - You pick Avatar for the win. Now TDK moves to slot #101, because you picked the #100 film over what was the #25 film.

Does that make more sense? Haha. Guess we need an FAQ!

  • @brian oh ok I'm starting to see now. the only thing is that on several occasions its literally thrown a continuous loop at me when I've individually ranked a movie. For instance, I would be ranking Dark Knight, and I would compare it with Avatar, then with Inception, then with Batman Begins, then with about 5 other movies, and then it would have me compare it with those exact same ones in the exact same order over and over again. What does this mean?

  • Oh, and I did of course try "not seen" or "not interested" but it won't let me pass by the movie, it just gets stuck trying to load another one.

  • I have a missing number :O @movieweb@brian When people talk about nothing showing up but (), I looked into what slot should be filled for that. And I'm missing a number. It went from #1009 to #1011 ?? What happened to that movie? The only guess I had is that that particular film got deleted or updated from the MW database. But how can I get that missing rank removed?

@hanktheturtle@Micah-Collison@jankrist@Salem6777@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx@moviegeek I think we fixed it! Let me know in this thread if the problem still exists!
  • @brian Nope. Still exists. The parentheses comes up still. Here's the page with the missing number. #1036 is missing.

  • @moviegeek it looks like a duplicate film was deleted from the system, leaving a gap in your list however an adjustment has been made and you are no longer missing #1036

  • the problem still exists for me
