    Let the Ass Kicking Begin!

There's a ton of buzz surrounding this new action movie currently shooting...praise like "greatest action movie ever." I don't know about that, but, with this Killer cast (see below) it's easy to see why action movie fans are frothing at the mouth for this higlhy anticipated film. Its cast reads like a who's who from the past two decades of action stars. Arnold even makes a cameo appearance! Hell, the only missing stars from this genre are Van Dam, The Rock, Wesley Snipes, Vinny Jones (Snatch, Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels) and Bruce Willis. John Cena doesn't belong 'cuz he doesn't have the acting chops nor ability to open a movie (see 12 Rounds & The Marine). Chuck Norris is too old now...don't tell him I wrote that...

If he were still around, it would be cool if Brandon Lee (The Crow) could be included...but, the cast is impressive as is.

This movie will open huge next year...I just hope that the screenplay and Stallone's direction give it legs at theatres. Remember, Stallone's first Rocky movie won a Best Picture Oscar (1976)...and he wrote it. Hopefully, some of his sensibilities from his better work will carry over.

    * Release Date: April 23, 2010

    Directed by: Sylvester Stallone

    * Starring (wow!): Sylvester Stallone, Mickey Rourke, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Stone Cold Austin, Danny Trejo, Randy Couture, Charisma Carpenter and Brittany Murphy

    * Synopsis: "Sylvester Stallone gears up for a men-on-a-mission film with the Nu Image/Millennium Films war picture The Expendables. Jason Statham and Jet Li co-star alongside the brawny filmmaker as a group of mercenaries who undertake a near-impossible operation to overthrow a dictator in South America."

  • John Cena doesn't belong 'cuz he doesn't have the acting chops nor ability to open a movie (see 12 Rounds & The Marine).

I'd say the same thing about Steve Austin. I don't know why the cast him in this instead of Bruce Willis, since they have the same look and Willis is an accomplished actor. How does someone like Austin even end up sharing the screen with Mickey Rourke and Stallone?

Still, as long as Statham is in it playing Statham I'll watch it.

    Does it get any better?
  • an all star cast, that should pack the cinemas already
  • 6 years ago
  • This must be an action pack movie, just seeing the cast that AnnoyingFilmCritic posted.

Can't wait for this film... yeah "let the ass kicking begin":cool:

  • Has a young kid from the 80's action flick kinda stick to me , and most Action fan have dream of a dream teeam flick since ever mainly cuz you never see more then 2 or 3 big action star names in a action movie , Action stars are not the best to share the spotlight lol.

Now with a cast like that , any action buff wont really care about the plot , it only has to be action pack .

But has I look at my action film collection the cast doesnt satisfied my vision of a action film dream team . If you gonna trie to do it like Stallone is he should trie to get has much action stars from the last decades from more then one action genre even if they only play small cameos , the more bankable stars the better since some fans might check out the film only for a particular actor even if he has a small role

I suggested Cena mainly cuz he is a all american hero that does have a bankable fan base , Ive only seen him in The marine , wich i did enjoyed since i found it had a strong 80's action feeling to it , aldo i also found is acting a wooden i thought it fit the film and the character . Stallone should of casted him in a small silent role that gets kill fast , nothing like killing a all american hero early in the film .

Talking about wooden acting , Cena acts a lot better then Randy Couture , saw him in The scorpion king 2 , he f*cking sucks , if Stallone wanted a UFC fighter that can act he should of casted Rampage Jackson , he quite suprised me in Midnightmeat train

i disagree with you cp on Stone cold , Just like Statham Stone cold acting is quite decent when he plays Stone cold , he was perfect in The condemned

lol Chuck norris aint to old , the day he will die he will roundkick the reaper of death in the face and come back to life 40 years younger , and I disagree with you on Norris beeing to old for this flick , he is only 6 years older then stalone and still quite in shape , even if he wouldnt do any action scenes i would love to see him in it

Now here would be my ultimate dream team for a action film , like i said i dont care if some would only be cameos i just want to see them in the same film . ( ill start by the ones that have been already casted )

    -Jet li
    -Jason Statham
    -Sylverster stallone
    - Mickey Rourke
    - Arnold Schwarzenegger
    - Dolph Lundgren
-Eric Roberts ( some might question this choice but lovers of action flick knows this guy has been in his share of b-action films)
    --Danny Trejo
    -Stone Cold Austin

Now what hasnt been casted yet
    -Bruce Willis
    -Jean-Claude Van Dam
    -The Rock
    -Wesley Snipes
    -Vinny Jones
    -Kurt Russel
-Vin Diesel ( he the hero of the dungeon and dragon geeks is still a bankable star just kill him early )
    -Chuck norris
    -John Cena
    -Mark Walhberg
    -Bookeem Woodbine
    -Lou diamond Philips
    -Ron Pearlman
-DMX ( hey rappers turn actors are bankable stars and he aint that bad in a action flick )
-Rampage Jackson ( he looks like a killing machine and like i said looks like he can act )
-Nathan Jones ( the big guy that was in Troy , The protector ect.. man that guy can move it's mesmerizing watching him fight)
-Channing Tatum : the only good thing from Aguide to recognising your saints ( loved is intensity) and looks like he can fight on screen by the trailer of fighting
    -Tyrese Gibsons
-Sammy Naceri ( french action star , suprised Stalone hasnt casted him since he did a cameo for Naceri's Taxi3 )
    -Mila Jovovich
    -Michelle Rodriguez

now if your gonna have 1 asian action star you should have all of the most known asian action stars recent and past so

-Jackie Chan ( just kill him off early)
    -Sammo Hung
    -Stephen chow
    -Tony Jaa
    -Chow Yun-Phat
    -Michelle Yeoh
    -Zhang Ziyi

    - Nicolas cage : why not since he was in more then one action film

I know am forgetting some names i would also cast , like i said keep in mind that some of them i would cast only in small roles

  • Hey guys just found the First Behind the Scenes Footage from The Expendables..
  • Chuck Norris is too old now

And a 63 year old Stallone isn't? But that's beside the point. This movie looks like it could be awesome! It'll probably be less so but still highly entertaining. Oh and while were adding to the Dream Team let's not forget Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman.

By the way, what's the deal with Schwarzenegger? Doesn't already have a job mismanaging my state as governor?

  • Yeah, at 69, Chuck Norris is too old...Stallone is still kicking ass as seen in Rocky 6 and the last Rambo.

  • I'm even more amped for this movie now...there's a show on The Learning Channel (TLC) called "Street Customs" which is a car-customizing show featuring its latin owner from a show on MTV years back called "Pimp my Ride."

In the episode that appeared on June 4th, 2009, Sylvester Stallone dropped by their shop for an order to design/construct a pickup truck for his main character in the upcoming "Expendables" movie. He needed one design for three trucks: the "Hero" truck designed to look its best for arrival/denouement scenes, one for stunt-action sequences and one partial cab truck for close-up/green scenes backdrop for dialogue close-ups.

I'm a car guy, but don't give a shyt about trucks/suvs...however, I like/appreciate vintage pick up trucks for their design and character/heritage.

The studio and Stallone requested a 1955 Ford F-100 pick up truck for his character...Street Customs came up with an all black/stealth design that Stallone loved: chopped roofline, slammed ride height, Mercury custom grille, one-off "20 wheels/low profile tires, Edelbrock small block engine outputting 421 horsepower with an interior console that has secret, actuator-released compartments for a handgun and semi-rifle to be used by Stallone and Jet Li for some scene(s).

The finished hero truck was like an evil, badass Sanford & Son/Christine pickup truck with a mean, low phuck you attitude. Its like the truck counterpart to the wicked Mercury coupe in Stallone's "Cobra" movie. Rocky and owner took it out for a spin and Rambo burned some serious stretches of smoky burned rubber around the block.

Expendables is going to kick so much ass...80's style with a modern final knockout!

  • everyone who grew up on the kickass movies of 80's and early 90's was waiting something like this for very long time. JCvD made a life time error by refusing to take a part in this movie. He definetly should be in it, and even Chuck Norris. I would go see the movie if Chuck is in there in cameo role for like 2 mins only :)

but still, the crew is bloody great, i think this will be the Dirty Dozen of 21th century :)

    > The Expendables just got even cooler...

"In a recent interview with MTV, 80s action star Bruce Willis let it slip that he will indeed be making a cameo appearance alongside two other major stars of that decade, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, in Stallone's all-star action extravaganza The Expendables. The actor is specifically leaving time in his busy schedule to appear in the highly anticipated film.

Willis will appear along such action heavyweights as Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, and Randy Couture. Willis stated in the interview, ""I want to send best wishes to Sly, and the Governor of California, my old pal Arnold." When asked if he'd filmed his scene yet, Willis said no, "I haven't united with them. I'm waiting for a call from Sly about when we're going to try and make that happen. I don't know anything about yet, haven't seen any pages yet. But I'm excited about it."

When asked if all three action icons would be appearing on screen together, Willis confirmed, "That's the concept. That's the plan." The Expendables is set to explode across theater screens on April 23rd, 2010." - MW
