You have 10 Minutes to remember as many of the 50 United States as you can.
After 10 Minutes, the correct answers
will appear in this space so you can see which ones you've missed:

The timer showed 04:46 after I named the last one which, incidentally, was also the last one alphabetically.

You have 10 minutes to remember as many of the 192 United Nations member states as you can.
After 10 minutes, the correct answers will appear in this space so you can see which ones you've missed:

I was 83 countries short when the time ran out.

  • Got the States one done but didn't try the country one yet. I barely BARELY got the States done. It's harder than it seems.

  • Should I be ashamed that I live in America, and for love of god could not think of Wyoming?

That's right I failed, with about 1 minute 45 seconds left I sat there with a thumb in my ass trying to think of the state I missed. Meanwhile Mr. Stork from Denmark finishes in half the time.

So much for 18 years of life in America. The Europeans know the states better then me.

  • Same with me. That might have something to do with the fact that that with American kids, geography is started and dropped in elementary school. But acknowleging the problem is the first step to fixing it.

If you're having a lot of trouble with either you can get help here and here.

  • Yeah, that is weird. Denmark knows our states better than us.

Don't feel too bad, people. Remembering long lists of things is a hobby of mine. I can also name all of your presidents, chronologically of course.

  • Well that is one interesting hobby you have there Stork. What made you get into it?

That would also be a good game.

Well that is one interesting hobby you have there Stork. What made you get into it?

Well, there are quite a few reasons, I guess. One is that is gives me something to do if I'm just sitting around waiting for something (plenty of time to go through these lists). Plus, I find it very satisfying being able to flawlessly go through a vast list, especially if I'm beating others doing it... I may as well have fun with my photographic memory.
Another reason, though connected to the photographic one, is that the aesthetics of certain words such as geographical ones and well-known names appeal to me.
Also, after watching Die Hard: With a Vengeance, I found it useful to be able to name the presidents since John McClane and Zeus were supposed to find out who the 21st president was in order to find the bomb at the school. Of course I'd never experience anything like it, but at least I would be able to outsmart the hero and his sidekick in the future.

This neat site for making your own quizzes (e.g. movie quizzes) came to my attention on another forum:

Here's one to get things started:

EDIT: Don't mind the "Was" instead of "What" in the last question.
Also, perhaps this thread should be moved to Movie Games.

  • I missed Connecticut, Oregon, Vermont...Not too terrible for a Canadian, if I don't say so.

On yours, Stork, I got 8/10. I haven't seen Boondock Saints, and the best movie ever one was a guess.

Here's one you guys can try:

  • I forgot 6 states, which is pretty good considering that 5 of them aren't necessarily that easy to remember, but the 6th one is Colorado and I JUST left another forum where one of my buddies is from there, so I feel like an idiot.
Also it took me forever to remember Pennsylvania, which embarrasses me as an Office fan.

That's okay...I made it hard on purpose. I researched most of the answers.

You wanna make a medium one?

  • I got 70 on your quiz, Josh. Pretty decent if I may say so myself.

Laziness overcomes me at this moment. Or sheer exhaustion.

  • Clark, I got a 60 on your quiz. Stork, I got all 50 states with 6:13 left to go - woohoo! (I should state that I'm a cartographer by trade, so I'm usually up on my geography pretty well.) Now for that UN quiz...
  • Okay, so much for being up on my geography! I still had 85 countries left to go. What kills me is I missed some obvious major countries such as the U.S. (!), the U.K., and Canada, but I remembered countries such as Nauru, Djibouti, and Guinea-Bissau! Is that some kind of mental problem or what?
