  • What are some of your favorite shows that were cancelled too soon?

I'd say it's a tie for me between Arrested Development and Deadwood.

  • Totally agree with Arrested Development. I will also throw Firefly and Kings into there.

  • Gotta go with Firefly and just to throw one out no one has mentioned yet... my wife and I LOVED Journeyman. It wasn't perfect but it was good and had a LOT of potential if given a chance.

  • Arrested Development and Doll House. There was also a show with Matthew Fox (Lost) called Haunted that was pretty good for the one season it was on.

  • One other show that I loved (but may not fit the requisite of "Greatest") was a little watched show called "Everything's Relative" that came out in '99 (not to be confused with an 80's show staring Jason Alexander). Anyway, this show was created by Mitch Hurwitz who some of you may know as the creator of a show mentioned a couple times in this post... Arrested Development. The show was really quirky and had a weird sense of humor that I definitely think was a precursor of what we've all grown to love in Arrested Development.

  • movientvfan - great call on "The Unusuals." I really liked that show!

  • id say The 4400 is one of the better shows to be cancelled.

  • I really liked the The Unusuals as well. Not sure why that one was canceled. Freaks and Geeks is another that got the axe for no apparent reason.

I only agree with Live On Mars if your referring to the BBC version, the American one was crap.

  • It looks like we'll be losing some this season although the networks won't be up front about it.
NUMB3RS and THE FORGOTTEN both look like they're goners. We know LOST is ending as is SAVING GRACE. SCRUBS is a probability too. Any others anybody has heard about?

  • We can add 24 to the list. FOX announced yesterday that it was cancelling the series. The reason? The writers couldn't come up with any more ideas. Who are they kidding? They always said they wanted to do a movie after the end of season eight, which I'm sure they will do now, and that will be the swan song for the series. Eight seasons is pretty good, especially in today's market but it's still a little sad to see it end. What's Jack Bauer going to do?

  • Lost wasn't cancelled, it's ending because the writers wrote it that way.

I think the greatest show ever to be cancelled is Star Trek the original series. XP I bought the DVDs and now I wish they had made more than just 3 seasons. Sure it was poorly produced and often cheesy but the stories are truly fantastic. A lot of sci fi movies seem to have been directly influenced by the show.

After that I think the biggest disapointment was Rome. It really pissed me off. I mean... The show was written for 3 seasons anyway. Would it ruin them THAT much to allow that 3rd one???

  • Hello clockworkcookie! Long time no see. I'm glad you're back. How's your art coming along by the way?
I know LOST is a planned ending. The producers told us early on what the plan was but as with ER as with SAVING GRACE, when you like a show enough you hate to see it end regardless. Besides nobody asked me about it. The worst scheduled ending, in my opinion, was WEST WING. That show had a lot more potential with a new administration. Oh well something else is bound to show up, it always does and I'll enjoy it...until they cancel it as well.
