Well we are half way through the year & I think it would be cool to share what's the best & worst that we have seen so far this year (in our opinion). Lists can go up to ten.

  • Pretty much what has already been said. Rider wasn't bad as I thought. Entertaining to the say the least. A few more movies should be entered here.
There exist four rulers in this world: Gods, Humans, Vampires and Werewolves. The Question is, who do you think is above the food chain?

    Good...

Prometheus, Avengers, Chronicle, The Hunger Games, John Carter

    Average...

Woman in Black, Act of Valor

and that's all I've seen in theaters so far this year. I actively avoid what I feel is gonna be a bad movie for the most part. Saw Act of Valor cuz it was important to my stepdad.

  • @moviegeek -- You think you're going to add "Most Disappointing Movie Of The Year" to our voting genres?

  • @XxNickTheFilmCriticXx I think it's ironic that TDKR could very well be in the running for both that category (assuming it's added) and the "best of" category. Hell, it could possibly win both. Now wouldn't that be something.

  • @thedude-abides -- Putting that into perspective, and taking "Prometheus" into consideration(a movie that was arguably great in every category, but featured a script that lacked quality, and gets trashed for that reason, and that reason alone), there's a big chance that might happen. People have unrealistic, unreachable expectations. So, always expect the worse, but hope for the best.

  • @moviegeek -- Sweet! I really don't want to see "John Carter" being tagged as the worst movie of 2012, especially over something like "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" and "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance".

@thedude-abides -- We're one step closer to what seems to be the inevitable.

The first six months of 2012 really can be summed up in two words: The Avengers. Without question, some will have their favorites, which may be better than the comic epic, but when all things are considered, The Avengers reigns supreme. No film, including the forthcoming TDKR and The Hobbit, had as much riding on it as The Avengers. None were so filled with risk; one bad casting choice, a bad story, etc., would most likely have sunk sunk the culmination of Phase One in Marvel's great project (not to mention it would have been Disney's second $250 million dollar flop in a matter of months. Sorry, John Carter). Yet with all the pressure that built over four years of hype, The Avengers scored big, not only commercially but critically as well (93% on RT, to go with a critic avg. of 8.1/10? Excellent). The second half of 2012 may in fact belong to TDKR, The Hobbit, or another critical and commercial success that receives the boatload of awards, but the first half solely belongs to The Avengers.

  • @XxNickTheFilmCriticXx Well if nothing worse comes along, John Carter is the worst of 2012 still for me. Most disappointing as of now..? Hmm... Probably This Means War lol.
