Forums: Show-Actor/Actress Face-Off.

  • I am quite fond of the face-off section. It's fun, and will create interesting debates on "which film is better, and why". I recently noticed how you do not have the option for actors, actresses, and TV shows. And knowing that we have this wonderful forum, I figured I would post my idea. Anyone up for it?

  • I like it just for movies, personally. TV might work... but people? That's pushing it. Actors and actresses all have highs and lows so I wouldn't be able to really pick one over the other in most cases. Unless you stuck Chris Tucker next to Reese Witherspoon.. Then I'd pick :P

  • @moviegeek -- I can agree with the "highs and lows" thing, but I mean it would be cool to pin actors/actresses against each other. It'll create neat discussions on who should come out on top. ;P

Already ahead of you here, but glad to know we're on the same page. More Face-offs will be coming soon!

  • @brian -- That's awesome to hear, thanks for the heads-up.

  • The movie, television or soundtracks idea seems like good ideas to me but actors and actresses are playing a role so how can you rate them without personally knowing them. My point is you still are basically judging them by their films or their media relations which is just as scripted as anything else in Hollywood so it seems to make more sense using Face Off with the formers.

  • A Face-Off between actors and actresses, well... that'd be just like The Social Network, wouldn't it? ;)
  • @SpaceCowboy -- How so?

@Supperman -- It has nothing to do with "personally knowing them". I'd like a Face-Off where I can pit actors and actresses against each other to see who's done better with their profession and who ultimately has better acting chops.

    @brian -- Any updates?

  • @XxNickTheFilmCriticXx It would be like Facemash from the first 20 or so minutes of The Social Network. Same concept as Face-Off but with people.

  • @SpaceCowboy -- Oh, yeah. But weren't they basing it off of looks rather than the quality of a persons profession?

  • @XxNickTheFilmCriticXx Yeah, but it's still the same concept. Instead of who's hotter it's who's better.

  • @SpaceCowboy -- Basically.

  • A who's hotter is no different than the thread I seen on here asking who you think is the sexiest Actor or Actress BUT with the advantage of your ranks appearing in a section somewhere in your profile like the Face Offs, which basically compose a favorites list.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx I must say Samuel l Jackson has to be at the top of the polls if you ask me because he has played in hundreds on SOLID movies in more years than our combined age?

  • @XxNickTheFilmCriticXx So are you going to make a thread for this, since it looks like the FaceOff app has kind of died? We used to have ongoing threads back in the day for movie actors, where we would all discuss and vote on an actor's best role.

What would be really fun is for you to pick a large list of TV actors (say, 40 or whatever), and set them up in a tournament-style bracket. Make a thread every few days for a match-up and we can discuss, and put the winner on to the next round. We would eventually work down to the final show down and choose our favourite TV actor.

    Could be fun.

  • @shuabert -- Great idea, man. I may be obliged to do such a thing, maybe you could set it up and in your absence I'll carry on? If so, we should post on each others walls and contemplate which actors/actresses we're going to construct onto the list.

    How does that sound?
