The CW Network has released a new clip from The Flash series premiere, "City of Heroes", which airs one week from today, Tuesday, October 7 at 8 PM ET.

Part of this scene was already showcased during a Season 2 episode of Arrow, but fans can now see the full version of how mild-mannered Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) is transformed into the fastest man alive, a.k.a. The Flash, after the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator causes a freak storm, and a fateful lighting bolt turns Barry into a superhero.

What we don't see in this clip is that, after this accident, he slips into a coma for several months. He eventually awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only "meta-human" who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion - and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won't be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become...The Flash. Check out the latest footage below, which also features Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West.
