First ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ Plot Details Surface After Sequel Gets Delayed

A witch will be Jack Sparrow’s new love interest, while a ghost teams up with Barbosa in this Disney sequel.

It is somewhat ironic that story details for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales have surfaced now, following yesterday's news that the sequel has been delayed by Disney due to issues with the script. However, sources indicate that many of the plot points revealed below aren't expected to change too drastically, so expect many spoilers and read on at your own risk.

The story behind Pirates of the Caribbean 5 contains a new potential love interest for Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow, a woman of science who has been accused of being a witch. While there will be some sexual chemistry, the attraction is said to be more one-sided than mutual.

The plot does center around witches, although it is believed that if Naomie Harris' Tia Dalma makes an appearance, it will be only as a cameo. There is also a ghost as referenced by the title, a former British soldier who teams up with Barbosa (Geoffrey Rush) on a mission of revenge that is central to the sequel's plot.

There is also said to be a subplot involving a young British couple, both from farming families, although this aspect of the story may be discarded with the new screenplay writes happening right now. The sequel opens at a wedding and climaxes with a riff on the legendary Bermuda Triangle, which may lead us into the sixth film.

Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg are directing from a screenplay by Terry Rossio, which is currently being rewritten by Jeff Nathanson. Despite the delay, production is still expected to take place either this fall or early next year.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales comes to theaters July 7th, 2017 and stars Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Kaya Scodelario, Orlando Bloom, Brenton Thwaites, Martin Klebba, Geoffrey Rush, Kevin McNally. The film is directed by Joachim Rønning, Espen Sandberg.

It looks like Keith Richards will be returning to play Captain Teague, and Christoph Waltz might play the villain named Captain Brand in Pirates 5 ->

@redcameraman There may be a Pirates 6, if Pirates 5 does well enough. Which is the same reason there was a Pirates 4 after the initial trilogy. It does say in the article above that Pirates 5 opens at a wedding, and climaxes with a riff on the legendary Bermuda Triangle which may lead us into the sixth film.

@undeadslayer4 Post-Production on the Pirates of the Caribbean movies can take a while, but still be ready before its theatrical release date, as long as they do everything they need to do in time.

@undeadslayer4 About Post-Production: It depends on how much they keep I the movie and/or how much they take out of the movie, and the score(music), and sound editing, etc.

@undeadslayer4 Because the script isn't ready and Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer and the directors and the rest of the crew, need more time for Pre-Production and Production, when Pre-Production and Production start.

@john-m Besides and unfortunately, they already have 3 to 4 of their tentpole movies (maybe more) already set to make them money at the B.O. in an a year close to being a clusterfuq of movies.

@lost-in-translation: The article says Disney and the writers aren't really changing anything, and to be honest I think they delayed the film more to the fact that Pirates would have had to compete against the likes of Superman vs Batman, Avengers 2, a Star Wars film, Ant Man along with the potential of a Jurassic Park and Terminator sequels all of which I think would hurt the Pirates sequel. Disney rightly should be worried about their badly written Pirates sequel. Again they're not really going to change anything with the sh*tty script just delaying the film.

Barbosa's son was a British Navel Officer. Killed, his Ghost seeks his pirate father's help in getting revenge. And who eles would be willing to go on what may be a suicidal mission for grand gains? Barbos gets Jack to help, but ends up maybe being a lie to get him to help. Yet Jack falls for Barbosa's daughter... Now THAT is a idea

I don't know @the-movieghost, they may sound bad to some people when reading it, but they may be better on screen in the movie. We'll just to wait and see.

Loved 2 and 3, 4 was good at some parts. They should really put everything they got in to 5 and any other sequels later on, although I know people who would see every movie religiously...
