Fast & Furious 6 still has two months to go before its playing in front of an audience starting May 24th, but its long been known that Fast & Furious 7 is already in the planning stages.

Today on his personal Facebook page, star Vin Diesel, who plays fast driving Dominic Toretto, confirmed that this impending sequel will begin shooting this summer in Los Angeles, home of the original 2001 hit The Fast and the Furious.

"There was an early screening in LA this week of Fast 6. The crowd reaction was surreal... and their demand for the continuation was powerful...

It's remarkable to think I first embodied this character in 1999... and the evolution continues.

P.s. Filming begins this summer in LA, where it all started... talk about a studio in sync with the audience...

Spoiler Alert!

Fast & Furious 7 will be set up at the end of Fast & Furious 6, with franchise newcomer Jason Statham being set up as a major villain after Dom and Brian get their full pardons and are allowed back into the US, hence the Los Angeles setting.

Fast & Furious 6 was released May 24th, 2013 and stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot. The film is directed by Justin Lin.

Furious 7 comes to theaters April 3rd, 2015 and stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Dwayne Johnson. The film is directed by James Wan.

Jason Statham will play a brother seeking revenge against Dom and his team for killing Owen Shaw (Luke Evans). I hope it brings full circle to tokyo drift since one of the members of Dom's team gets killed by Jason Statham.

@playhouse I thought that too maybe TD, is not part of the series, and that's good in my opinion having Han in the series is great.

F**king Awesome, so glad Jason Statham will be in the next one. You know it was originally rumored that he was suppose to play Luke Evans villainous role, but it was rumored that he turned it down. But if you look up Fast 6 in the idmb, oh never mind I don't want to spoil anything. I also Eva Mendes comes back in that one.

they are doing the same crap over n over....but the 4th took place 5 yrs after the 2nd....they rekindled love and friendship during loss of Letty, the 5th they were on the run n formed an all star team...the success of them all can easily do a 6th, 7th...but someone HAS TO DIE...there has to be one to be killed in the 7th since i assume none has died in the 6th

@Titon 'Tokyo Drift' still takes place at "the end" of all the other stories. Though, it's also likely they that finally end up considering 'TD' not officially part of the canon of the series.

I think this will be great.. The Fast 7 will give us all the high octane action Fast Five gave us, with the familiar backdrop from The Fast And The Furious.... Adding Jason Statham as the main villain is just icing on the cake.

@kingbrady I hope 7 is the last, the last 2 were the best and now 6 is looking very good. They need to end the franchise with 7 is already growing tired seeing this characters doing the same thing.

@Titon a LA setting doesnt mean it initally takes place in LA, best to do is let them do their thing cause Fast 4, 5 and now 6 are pretty damn good

they begin filming in summer 2013 and they will release it in 2015? doesnt take that long to film these movies, so maybe theyre looking to go big to finalize the franchise per haps once and for all
