EXCLUSIVE: Emilio Estevez Talks the Future of ‘Young Guns’

The actor says that 20th Century Fox has not yet approached him about reprising his role as Billy the Kid in a sequel or a remake.

We're huge fans of Emilio Estevez, and even bigger fans of his 1988 Western Young Guns and its sequel, Young Guns II. Thus far, the movie has not been put up for a remake or a reboot, but a sequel has long been hoped for by many of its cast members, and those who hold the film in high regard. We recently caught up with Emilio Estevez, who directs and co-stars in this weekend's The Way. We couldn't help but ask the star, who is quite selective nowadays when it comes to taking on a project, about the future of Young Guns. To hear what he had to say, click on the clip below.

Young Guns was released August 12th, 1988 and stars Emilio Estevez, Kiefer Sutherland, Lou Diamond Phillips, Charlie Sheen, Dermot Mulroney, Casey Siemaszko, Terence Stamp, Jack Palance. The film is directed by Christopher Cain.

Young Guns II was released August 1st, 1990 and stars Emilio Estevez, Kiefer Sutherland, Lou Diamond Phillips, Christian Slater, William Petersen, Alan Ruck, R.D. Call, James Coburn. The film is directed by Geoff Murphy.

Did you see Young Guns 2? Billy The Kid is an old man in that. They could do for Young Guns what Blackthorn did for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid...

@addictionnonfatel i completely agree 100%. they need to just leave it alone. the movies are great and they are western classics and as such, should not be f*cked with. but i am of the opinion also that movies that we all consider classics, i.e. karate kid, footloose, etc., should not be f*cked with either but........we all saw what happened there.

Love Love the movie "Young Guns!" But asking a 50 year old to reprise the role of a 21 year old or younger version of Billy The Kid is a LMFAO response! I say leave it alone! Which means no reboots or remakes! Leave it the F*CK ALONE!
