Summit Entertainment has released the first trailer for Ender's Game. Based on the best-selling, award winning novel, Ender's Game is an epic adventure which stars Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, with Abigail Breslin and Harrison Ford. Check out the first footage from this sci-fi adventure from director Gavin Hood.

In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.

Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military's next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he's trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

Ender's Game was released November 1st, 2013 and stars Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Aramis Knight, Suraj Partha. The film is directed by Gavin Hood.

    @dan1 - this is the day and age when people give low ratings to movies because "LotRs ripped off Harry Potter" and such, after all :P

    @diaigma Can't argue with that airtight logic. Even though Ender's Game was written in 1985, and Halo came out in 2001.

    @undeadslayer4 - I see the connection you're making, but since the concept predates Halo, who is to say Halo didn't copy Ender? :P

    @diaigma they obviously copied this from halo

    @moviegeek - glad you're "down" with seeing this :P

    @skywise - Same here, and it makes sense that the aliens attack in a "swarm-like" formation. Something I never thought about while reading the book, so visually, I hope this will be loaded with surprised. And Pequinino ... now THAT would be something!

    The trailer makes it seem less epic then it probably is, I hope.

    @diaigma The bugger swarms looks really interesdting. I was a little concerend with how they would pull it off and make it look good. I am very happy with what I see so far and only hope they do the next 4 books. I know we have had this convorsation before but i really hope they follow the books and allow Ender to grow up.

    I wonder what a CGI Pequinino would look like.

    The trailer looks good enough but the movie could go either way, specially with Gavin Hood's direction.

    I've never read the book, but I hope it isn't too childish or tweeny... the last thing we need is another tween franchise...

    And there it is. The trailer I've been waiting for. Since the book was never specifically descriptive on anything set wise, the look and effects are a great surprise. Now to see what they'll do about the story.

    As for Gavin, I really liked his first film, and I can't blame him for Wolverine since Fox had him on a tight leash with a bad script that he couldn't do anything about. Card, and the studio, gave him more freedom, and he also worked closely with the author. Card has stock in this too, and I doubt he'd lend his baby out to just anyone :P

    @stefanos My point was that they actually invested their money well where it needed to be. It seems they are willing to take a risk on the first go
