Emma Watson isn't interested in being a princess. The actress has passed on the lead role in Walt Disney Picture's live-action reboot Cinderella, which stars Cate Blanchett as the Wicked Stepmother.

No details were given in regards to Emma Watson's decision not to join this fairy tale adventure. Variety's Marc Graser tweeted the news this morning, promising details to come.

Kenneth Branagh is directing from a screenplay by Aline Brosh McKenna and The Twilight Saga: New Moon's Chris Weitz. Its not yet clear which direction this live action reboot is headed, though Disney's Alice in Wonderland reboot and the upcoming Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty told from the witch's point-of-view) should serve as some indication.

We'll let you know if Emma Watson's decision to pass is related to something noteworthy when that news breaks.

Cinderella was released March 13th, 2015 and stars Cate Blanchett, Lily James, Richard Madden, Helena Bonham Carter, Nonso Anozie, Stellan Skarsgård, Sophie McShera, Holliday Grainger. The film is directed by Kenneth Branagh.

@skywise Yep. I don't think would have seemed right for the role anyway.

Good. She doesn't need to waste her time or talent in a story we've seen done a billion times...

Good. I want her to steer away from these fantasy films for a while. I like seeing her more dramatic type roles, like Perks of Being a Wallflower.
