I went to FYE and there was this for a mere $3.99. I had been wanting to see it for quite some time, and $3.99 is a great price, so I bought it. It was as good as I thought, and hoped, which was not fantastic, but good nonetheless.

It has 4 (sorta 5) short stories. 3 gangsters wander into a Funeral Home, and the mortician there tells them how certain people died. One is about someone coming back from the grave and getting revenge. Another is about a "monster" in a kid in the hood's closet. A third is about some killer dolls after a bad man who wants to become President. The fourth is the one that ties into the 3 gangsters. And the fifth I mentioned is the 3 gangsters themselves. So it's like 4 1/2 stories, I guess. I'll rate each story respectfully. Story #1 - 4 stars. Story #2 - 3.5 stars. Story #3 -3.5 stars. Story #4/5 - 3 stars...I think that equals out to an overall of 3.5.

You'd think with a title like Tales from the Hood, that there'd be alot of bad points, including acting. But that's not the case. Maybe it's not modern acting, but for 1995, it's good. However, I can't say I knew any of the actors.

Never heard of the Director, Randy Cundieff. But I like him. I was wondering if this movie would be laughable, but it wasn't too bad. It was like a horror/comedy because it had some horror, but also comical gangsta stuff.

Some surprisingly good visuals, which was not expected. The blood and the zombie in the first story wasn't too fake at all, especially for 1995. The blood is actually blood-colored, not extremely light, like other old horror flicks.

Not bad, not bad at all. Definitely recommended, just don't expect to be amazed, and don't let the last story stop you from liking it, because I'll be honest - it's not very good. But I definitely don't regret buying this!

As for the DVD itself, it's ok. Kinda bad picture quality, kinda dark. Ok sound editing. Special features have character bios, featurette, and theatrical trailer. Decent replay value; I wouldn't mind watching this again.
