"Pirates of the Carribean 2: Dead Man's Chest" is the second film in a three-part trilogy, originally based on the Disney theme park ride of the same name, which has now become one of the most famous movie franchises in history. Though the story does not hold up against its predecessor, it is truly a fun and exciting film, even if it solely acts a bridge between the first and last sections of the trilogy.

The plot of the movie is convoluted and at times I found myself lost in the complex web of storylines, but that only made me want to watch it over and over again. As a family movie, the actual story will be way over the children's heads, and may even elude a few adults, but the film still holds up for its stunning special effects, gorgeous visuals, unforgettable characters and non-stop action. "Pirates 2" will leave you yearning for the final film to complete the story and to secure the franchise's place in cinematic history.

The Special Features on this DVD set are spectacular, and there is so much bonus content that it can be almost be exhaustive. But that is a good thing. The bonus materials will not only take you behind the scenes, but inside them, giving you a comprehensive tutorial of the film, and teaching you the moviemaking process along the way. There are intense character studies, breakdowns of the revolutionary special effects, and tons of in-depth interviews with and fly-on-the-wall footage of the cast and crew hard at work in planning and eventually implementing what will eventually become a legendary film. Some of the best Special Features I have ever experienced!

The cinematography of this film is nothing short of breathtaking. The clarity and seamlessness of the special effects pull you into another world and create a fantasy you've yet to experience.

The sound is equally as impressive, with the roaring seas, swaying palm branches and clanging of swordfights making you wish you could strap on an eye patch and get in on the non-stop action.

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" imagery is always stunning, and the packaging is no exception, including a 3D slipcover not available with the regular DVD.

Everyone wants to be a pirate, and the "Pirates of the Caribbean 2" Special Edition DVD set will finally give you the chance! The Special Features put you inside the moviemaking process, showing you just how much work goes into making a film this great.
