It's been 18 years since the original and well frankly, besides the appearance of Feldman and a rock remake of "Cry Little Sister", this film has zero connection to the original. The film even comes complete with a Sutherland playing a head vampire, except there is never any connection made between this new vampire and the original leader played by the better Sutherland vampire, Keifer. If you're going to be a sequel, then connect the two films in better fashion than using Feldman and a tired song as your main link. The uncut version is pretty graphically gory (the opening decapitation scene sat a little uneasy with me considering this just happened in reality on a Greyhound bus) and the sound design is pretty impressive. I do feel a little bad for Corey Haim who was reduced to a throw away scene in the credits and in the DVD extra's "alternate endings" (which none of the three scenes make any sense).
The film is enjoyable on it's own as a vampire flick but as a sequel to one of the greatest cult vampire flicks ever, it's a lousy product.
