I started watching this film not knowing it was in Spanish and given the small amount of grief from my wife because of that and within the last 5 pictures I've viewed some were in foreign languages other than English (i.e. Martyrs and The Orphanage) which I might say both are excellent.

Quim is on his way to meet up with his girlfriend and stops at a gas station to fill up. On a pay phone making a call, he notices Bea, a young woman, stealing canfy from the station. She exits into the bathroom followed by Quim because of the Men's Bathroom is out of order. She confronts him about the candy she has stolen knowing he knows, but he thinks nothing of it. What ensues, is an editorial out of Penthouse magazine (Metaphor for spontaneous sex). Bea leaves in a haste only for Quim to realize his wallets gone, but his gas is paid for.

The rest of the movie relies on 2 teens and their father in the mountains picking off people at random, with Quim and Bea fighting for their lives to stay alive.

This movie could be accomplished better by use of multiple and steady camer angles. Our lone "hero" Quim was portrayed as someone weak. I feel the direction of his character should have been more deliberate. He had too many opportunities to take out the boys near the end.

Iv'e read that this picture compares to another Dimension Extreme picture" Eden Lake". I have seen "Eden Lake" and found minimal comparisons to both films in direction, acting, plot, outcome, etc. The characters in "Eden Lake" especially our couple on the run had a pair, so to speak.

Martyrs turned out to be a good story. I didn't expect the ending though.

Loved this movie--the ending and music--phenomenal. This is like Eden Lake, Plague Town, Vinyan, Home Movie, etc. because of the emphasis on children being the violently sadistic antagonists--brought on by how they've been raised. Buckshot, what did you think of Martyrs?

Nice review. The plot sounds corny and unrealistic,"not one on my watch lists".
