Quick Rent Review:

Not having a clue what The Green Lantern is about, and knowing that a live-action film with Ryan Reynolds is due for release next summer, I popped this direct to DVD animated venture into my que, and I have to say, it's quite a trip. While there is little character development to speak of, the story launches you right into the action with some impressive sequences on a cosmic scale. Dozens of alien creatures, some messed-up violence, and a touch of humor here and there, makes Green Lantern: First Flight a decent watch for those taking their first sight at the universe of Green Lantern.

Hal Jordan is given a powerful ring by a dying alien, taking his place as a guardian of the universe. Taken to the Guardian Central Command, Hal is placed under the care of Sinestro, a powerful guardian and ruthless interrogator who is fed up doing the Elder's "dirty work," and plots to take over with the only weakness to the green lanterns: The Yellow Element. Will Hal be able to stop Sinestro's dastardly plan, or will he get yella at the last minute?

Very crisp animation for a direct-to-DVD feature and an overall good picture quality with equally impressive sound and score, has very little extras to speak of, and has an average replay value, though I can't imagine seeing this again anytime too soon, but it's sure to be a favorite for the die-hard fan.

I felt the same way, Diaigma. Wrote an extensive in-depth DVD review of it.
