THE FEATURE
Cute comedy adaptation of the story doesn't really go far enough to be great satire. Having a gay Stepford wife would have been much better were it not so stereotypically flamboyant. It's also silly to play up the mystery when the comedy is based on the audience knowing the premise.
THE EXTRAS
Standard array of short doc*mentaries about the story, the meaning of "Stepford", the actors and actresses. Deleted scenes are mostly minor additions to physical gags, though the Bette Midler scene is funnier than anything in the movie and should have been left in. Gag reel with flubbed lines also included, but where is the alternate ending that was supposedly reshot at the last minute?
THE FINAL WORD
Passable entertainment for a rental, and if you really like it, there's plenty of behind the scenes material.
