Killjoy DVD: Review By The Cryptkeeper

I first saw this DVD cover while I was on my trip to Hungary. Unfortunately, DVDs in other countries do not play on American DVD players, so I added it to my Netflix list when I got home. Well, I got what I was expecting. Actually not really. I am not sure what I was expecting. I thought this would be bad, and it was. In fact this is possibly the worst movie ever made... possibly. I mean, it was really, really funny. But I honestly could not tell if it was suppose to be serious or not. But if it was suppose to be serious, that is pretty sad, because this movie is horrible. Now, you see my rating of 2.5, and you hear me saying it's possibly the worst movie ever made, so you might ask why I don't give it 0 stars. Well, it was a tough decision. This movie deserved 0 stars, that's for sure. But it was a true laugh riot that pretty much never stopped. That's why I give it those stars.

The story is lame. It makes no sense at all. So there's this gang "hood" type area. There's this nerdy guy who wants this girl, but she's taken by this gangster, who is dangerous. So this nerdy guy tries to awaken this doll, named "KillJoy" to attack, and kill the gangster. Then the gangster kills this guy, because he kept on trying to get his girl. The doll didn't work.... or did it? Then ONE YEAR LATER the doll comes to life, and is a killer clown!!

The acting is... funny. These actors weren't even trying, or so it seemed. I am not really going to go into it, but it's bad. The clown did mildly good... I guess.

The directing is... absent. It's like there was no director at all. The story was pathetic, with plot holes. and the lame directing didn't help. Whenever they went into the clown's world, it was like when The Terminator comes down to destroy John Connor. They are like they are about to start a race or something. It's hilarious.

Visually pathetic movie. There is one scene when the clown is shooting this one guy, and there is this CGI blood coming out, then disappearing. Then there are no bullet holes. Also, when a gangster is shooting at the clown, he fires 21 rounds out if a revolver. Yes... I counted. So, that was cheesy. Also the clown's "lair" is obviously a set. Though one good thing I have to say about this movie would be the look of the clown. If the movie was serious, the clown might have actually been creepy. But since the movie sucked, I was not frightened by the clown at all.

So, I recommend this movie highly if you are a fan of "so bad, they're good" type films. If you are not, stay as far away from this one as possible.

Replay value... I guess I'd watch it again, just wouldn't go out of my way to see it again. On the features just the "behind the scenes look" and that's it. Nothing wrong with sound, or picture quality. I wish movieweb had this in the movie results, so I don't feel obligated to review all that stuff no one cares about. haha
