So, I waited for about 5 months and the dvd finally came out and raced to blockbuster to get my copy and let me tell you- this is simply an amazing film that I will never forget over the years. It's a simple little reminder that good filmmaking is not only a dream to think of, but a dream that can actually take place.
The film itself...
This centers around the controversy in 1977 between the U.S. and president Nixon with Watergate! Then Frost gets wind of the president's leave- fresh from his news/talk show- and proceeds to use all of his power to get himself & Nixon together for a string of tense interviews which are soon to be come the nation's most watched debate between the state's two biggest stars.
The cast-
absolutely mind-blowing! Michael Sheen is an ingenious mastermind behind playing all these different characters who have these somewhat complex mindsets and yet, at the end of the day he's always himself! And Frank Langella as Nixon- for himself as an actor it goes to show that being even the slightest bit old can't stop a talent such as Mr. Frank Langella! And with a great supporting cast- Kevin Bacon, Sam Rockwell, Oliver Platt, and Rebecca Hall- this film is nothing short of the most masterful piece of this century!
The picture-
To me it's rockin' And like i've said before... i'm sure that if you have a blu ray dvd player in your home, then you're getting the full picture and you're loving the crystal clear picture quality.
The sound-
Absolutely great! It blends synthetically with the film and works so perfectly- it's top notch- next to having a BOSE sound system (like said in other reviews)
The extras-
What an essential part of a great dvd (in my mind!) are the "special features". This film packs them in with a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, casting, the original interviews, and deleted/extended scenes. Also, you can't forget the commentary with director Ron Howard and more!
All in all, this film is an absolutely award-winning film and it deserves more credit than it has received so far. This is by far, one of Ron Howard's best pieces of work besides "The Davinci Code" which has a newly released sequel, "Angels & Demons"- hasn't been the most highly enjoyed sequel made this year! But- for "Frost/Nixon" with great "replay value"- You should really enjoy this year's best politic/dramatic film- "Frost/Nixon"- Directed by: Ron Howard
