The Story begins with an unknown entity explaining how it has witnessed the evolution of life on Earth, upon seeing the destruction in which humanity has cased. The Unknown entity concludes that the human race must be eliminated. The person showed writing this message then shoot himself.

From there we cut to the Korea War, where we meet United States Air Force pilot Hal Jordan and his wingman, Kyle "Ace" Morgan for the first time in the film. Hal is shot down in the ensuing conflict due to the enemies lack of knowledge that’s there is a cease-fire. Hal is traumatized by this event and he spends 2 years in hospital mental ward, this is before Hal joins the space program.

From here we move to Gotham Observatory where a scientist, Dr. Saul Erdel inadvertently brings the last of the Green Martian race, J'onn J'onzz. Who now can't return to Mars, disguises himself has Dr. Erdel; soon afterwards he becomes John Jones and joins the Gotham PD and quickly rises through the ranks to detective in 2 years.

At this point and time Super heroes are becoming feared by the general populace, this leads to the decline of the Justice Society. Superman is attempting to ease government fear, while Batman continues fighting crime in spite of what they think.

This leads to john Jones and his partner meeting Batman for the first time while investigating a kidnapping of a child. The child would be reveled that his is to be part of a sacrificial ritual for a cult. While Batman attempts to save the boy, he finds the boy is

Frightened by him so he allows John and his partner free the boy instead. The Flash is being targeted by government agents, as they attempt to capture him in an effort to learn the secret of his powers; he considers quitting being a super hero. In a response to J’onn J’onzz appearance on earth, the military recruits Hal Jordan for a top secret mission to Mars. J'onn J'onzz learns of the launch and attempts to stow away on the rocket so that he may return home; before he decides to leave he visits The Batcave. It’s here he reveals that he's been aware of Batman’s identity as billionaire Bruce Wayne, for quite some time, (using his cunning detective skills instead of his telepathy), and gives him the last of his research on The Centre. J'onn tells Batman that he's losing faith in humanity because he too much hatred, ignorance within the people around him, which is why he has decided to leave Earth.

During his attempt to board the ship, J'onn is seen on camera by King Faraday, the project leader, who confronts J'onn and fights him on the launch pad. J'onn is able to beat Faraday, but still saves him from rocket exhaust. The rocket is damaged and malfunctions shortly after exiting the atmosphere.

Hal wants to attempt a landing, but his co-pilot, Col. Rick Flagg, reveals that the rocket is loaded with weapons of mass destruction, and as such he won't risk it. After a brief struggle, Hal is ejected from the c*ckpit. Though he is saved by Superman, the distraction allows Flagg to detonate the rocket.

So I’m going to leave you hanging there before telling you the entire movie, I recommend this for any one who is a fan of Justice League, DC comics or the graphic novel that the movie is based off of. Read the book and watch the movie.

I give 4 stars for excellent animation, stellar voice cast (listed above), and also felt the movie had a quick moving story line, mature themes and strong character work, this is a movie with heart. Felt good to see it bring to life the older versions of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman that aren’t widely used.

3.5 for Extras because the Standard edition doesn't have very much included.

Thanks for reading,

Never heard of this xj, and I'm not much of a DC comic fan, but this actually sounds not bad. Think I might check it out sometime. Fantastic review and I like that you identified the characters with the actors names.
