A lot of people that I know always badmouth Pee-Wee Herman as a weirdo pedophile, but in reality, Pee-Wee gave one of my favorite director's ever, Tim Burton, his big break. For those of you who don't know, Pee-Wee's classic 1985 comedy Pee-Wee's Big adventure, was Tim Burton's first film, and it has all of Burton's hilarious wit, a few scary characters, and even music composed by Danny Elfman. The film itself is about Pee-Wee on his quest to find his stolen bike. Everything that ensues is either laugh out loud funny, completely disturbing, or both. The best scene in the movie is when Pee-Wee holds a meeting in his basement going over evidence that has no tie-in to his bike, whatsoever. Still, I must warn you that a ghost, and scary clowns are in the film, so that's is why it is sorta disturbing. Still, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure is not only hilarious, but one of Burton's best films, and that is niteowl's verdict (P.S. I only reviewed the dvd because the film itself wasn't available).

Lone Wolf, I totally agree! I love the whole basement scene. I also love when Pee-Wee says that he's unraveling a cable knit sweater, and someone keeps knitting, and knitting, and knitting, and knitting!

One of my favorite qoutes:
Pee-wee: [holding a pen] Exhibit "D"! Jimmy, what is this - too late! Chip?
Chip: Uh... it looks like a pen.
Pee-wee: Exactly! I bought this pen one hour before my bike was stolen. Why? What's the significance? I don't know!

I totally agree. This is just one o those films that, no matter how old I get, I will most likely always enjoy it. My favorite scenes from the films are the basement scene, the "middle of no-where" scene, and the entire scene when "Pee-Wee" is at "Francis"' home.

Agreed whole-heartedly with everything you said, especially the scene in the basement, Crazy Larry is one of my all time favorite characters in any fictional work, ever.
