Species IV: The Awakening DVD: Review By MutantFairy

They cut down on the gore from Species 3 but it was still violent with plenty of people getting killed. It takes awhile for the Species girl to start her quest to get impregnated but when she does you get what you expect from the Species movies: nudity & the death of her male sex partners. They seemed to wrap up the Species series with this one. It's too bad they couldn't get Natasha Henstridge to show up one last time.

Thankfully there are no gratuitous lesbian scenes between our blonde Species girl & the other girl in the movie but we do get to see them fight each other. But for some reason they chose to film that scene in a dark room at night so it's tough to see the alien body. Unfortunately they put some weird prosthetic makeup on both actresses' breasts for some of their scenes. As if that weren't bad enough, their nude scenes were also shot in low light.

Ben Cross seemed to phone in his performance as the uncle/dad & Helena Mattsson was OK as the blonde Species girl. Marlene Favela was way more attractive, they should have made a Species movie about her.
