Between 2002 and 2006, I was constantly checking up on the status of the next James Bond movie. Searching to see if Pierce Brosnan was going to return was my main priority, because before Craig he was my favorite Bond, and then, finally, the new James Bond was announced with it's new leading man, Daniel Craig, which many people were disgusted about, and not to be boasting but I was never disgusted. Then, November 2006 came around and my James Bond fix was injected. I thought Casino Royale was great. It had the best James Bond ever, but the more and more i thought about it, the more and more i heard reviews from people just getting into Bond or gave up on Bond, I was still saying the movie was good, but, really, it, truly, only delivered for those fake Bond fans and it kind of left us out in the cold, but i still enjoy Casino Royale and added it to my collection but it's not the best. Only true Bond fans realize that. Now, let me describe to you what a real James Bond fan is. It's not the fact that you have every movie, and it's not about how many James Bond books you have, it's not how much you know about the movies and character, it's about how important those movies and character means to you, it's about the influence those movies have on your life, and a lot of it's unexplainable. However, let me tell you, true bond fan realizes how good Die Another Day is because they realize it's paying tribute to the great legacy of the Bond saga, and you'll even find enjoyment out of the terrible ones like Moonraker and Octop*ssy and still love them.

Like I said Casino Royale was a great Bond movie, but really, who thought James Bond was going to lose the poker game the second time around. If anybody did, then they, certainly, haven't watched Thunderball, and how many times, now, has James Bond movies tricked us into thinking he's really quitting. Casino Royale was like a James Bond movie for people who knew nothing about it, which was good, however it gave really nothing back to it's die hard audience, which Quantum of Solace delivers fantastically. I even heard some people say that Casino Royale is the best James Bond since Dr. No, and those same people couldn't even tell me Dr. No's first name, how pathetic is that. Also, whoever thinks Dr. No is the greatest James Bond of all time can't be a big Bond fan at all, because really who can't point out a specific Bond movie that's the greatest, you can only have a favorite, because you'll simply lose your freaking mind.

Now, Quantum of Solace is my favorite Bond, because it gives you everything you ever wanted in a Bond movie, well, except for the opening song, which was atrocious, but at least it wasn't as bad as the Octop*ssy song. It's still stuck in my memory. Daniel Craig is the greatest Bond, hand down. Now, I, absolutely, respect Sean Connery, because he was a great James Bond and the first, so all praises go to him, but as the best, no way. The dumbest complaint i hear about Quantum of Solace is that it steals from The Bourne series. Okay, the first Bourne novel, which was written by Robert Ludlum, came out in the 1980's; Ian Fleming novels were released way back in the 50's, just to give you a history lesson. The Bourne series are clear spy rip offs of the James Bond franchise, and if you don't believe me, then watch the Bourne trilogy and right after that watch From Russia with Love and read the Goldfinger novel. It's pieces of work that's, clearly, taken out and wrapped into the Bourne movies. So, really Quantom of Solace is being it's regular James Bond movie. All those running and chase sequences you see in the Bourne movies are like they took From Russia with Love and put it in fast motion.

In most case, when it comes to DVD's, I would usually say just buy the regular and not special editions, because they're simply a waste of money. However, this is one of my favorite special editon DVD's i own. Of course, it delivers with the feature, but it also delivers on the special features. If your a James Bond fan, i recommend you get the 2 disc special edition and you won't be disappointed. I promise.

I agree, great review. I was unsure about the casting of Craig as Bond because I loved Brosnan in the part as well, but after seeing Casino Royale he is a perfect choice. Look forward to future Bond films.
