This documentary, part of the Investigative Reports series from the Arts and Entertainment Cable Network (A&E), takes a look at the concept of polygamy and men and women who continue to believe in this illegal practice. Narrated by Investigative Reports host and producer Bill Kurtis, this video discusses the history of multiple marriages and of the Mormon people who were forced to give up their polygamy practices in 1890 when they joined the Union. According to estimates, even though this practice has been outlawed for over 100 years, there are still 30,000 to 50,000 cases of polygamy in Utah. Specific cases are highlighted, including the case of a 16-year-old girl who was violently punished after she refused to become a man's 15th wife. There also are interviews with the founders of the Tapestry of Polygamy, an organization of women dedicated to helping females escape from multiple marriages. ~ Cecilia Cygnar, All Movie Guide
