THE GOOD
The show is the best reason to own this set. If you're a fan, don't hesitate picking this up.
THE BAD
No bonus material to speak which would've been a nice bonus.
THE FEATURE
KING OF THE HILL is truly the king of animated shows on television. Based on the Hill family of Arlen, Texas, this is the truest family that is animated. Whereas FAMILY GUY is trashy fun and THE SIMPSONS are just sort-of stupid, the Hill family brings reality to animation. This is how families really react. The writing is superb and they tackle story lines you won't see on other shows.

Season six of KING OF THE HILL is one of the best ever. Included in the 21 episodes are some of the classic episodes you remember as being the best. For starters, you get the first episode where young Bobby Hill takes a self-defense course (for women) and learns to kick his opponents in the nads whilst screaming "That's not your purse!". Unfortunatley, he takes his self defense to school whereas he kicks all the boys picking on him (much to the horror of the principal and his father) in the family jewels. But because he learned it one way, he still has to scream about the purse. It's hysterical to watch (while it may not transfer to words as being such). You also get the episode where LuAnn, the neice, tries to join a sorority and it is actually a brainwashing cult; the episode where Dale Gribble finds out that his father is gay; the episode where ex-President Jimmy Carter is used as a metaphor for Jesus Christ (check the initials) because he is a carpenter for Habitat for Humanity; and you also get the episode where Hank is elected to carry the torch for the Olympics. This show never fails to make me laugh and it often makes me THINK (which is scary in itself). Voiced by Mike Judge of BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD fame, it also stars the talents of Kathy Nijimy (VERONICAS CLOSET), Brittany Murphy (UPTOWN GIRLS) and the always fantastic Stephen Root (OFFICE SPACE) who is sometimes not credited in the series earlier seasons because of his contract with NEWSRADIO which forbade it. Also in the cast is Pamela Segal Adlon as Bobby Hill. I will just never understand why, like Nancy Cartright voicing Bart Simpson, why they have women voicing little boys. Are there no young male actors who can voice a cartoon? I was talking to some friends about cartoons on television and KING OF THE HILL was the one voted on by all as being the best of the current crop. It is a credit to the actors, producers, directors and the writers for keeping the show grounded with great storylines and for not caving in and making the show sordid like some cartoons on cable.
THE EXTRAS
No special features, which is a disappointment.
THE VIDEO
The picture quality is exactly the same as it was on tv. No widescreen here, just the cheesy full frame format 1.33:1.
THE AUDIO
King of the Hill sounds exactly the way it sounded on tv. The sound here is in 2.1 english and spanish dolby surround.
THE PACKAGE
The packaging is nothing to brag about. The box art and cases holding the discs have images from the show, which is to be expected. The discs themselves are dual sided which stinks because you need to get up and flip the disc in order to see all the episodes.
THE FINAL WORD
As a dvd set King of the hill season 6 is pretty basic. All you get are the 21 episodes and nothing more.
