Ranma 1/2: Season 1 - The Digital Dojo DVD: Review By danlouis

Here we have your typical boy meets girl story, with a nice sized twist. Douse the guy with cold water and he becomes a she. The story begins as Ranma and his father travel to China to hone their martial arts skills at the sacred ponds of Juusenkyo. During the battle, Ranma plummets into the spring of drowned girl, turning him from man to woman. The story goes from bad to worse as Ranma and father travel back to Japan to meet the girl that he was betrothed to.

Season 1 follows Ranma through Tokyo to meet his betrothed Akane and a host of other characters including Mousse, the boy-duck, Shampoo, the cat-girl, and his childhood rival, Ryoga.

No special features here, no sir. Just sound setup and scene selection.

Compared to the greats like Akira and Metropolis the art quality isnt all that great. But the mostly gripping story easy covers for it, (more on that later).

This comes with your basic sound choices, Mono and Stereo. Nothing special, nothing new.

Some consider the Ranma 1/2 seriesby far as one of the better anime series out there. The voices are great and the subplots leave you begging. At times though, it does get extremely tedious, for instance the constant bickering between Akane and Ranma makes you want to mute the damn T.V. and some of the characters should be killed off and left to rot. If you really love animes I suggest you pick this one up, on the other hand if you are a partial anime fan I suggest you to consider renting it on a really bored day.
