I Heart Jonas DVD: Review By Dodd
These guys can sing, but their product feels so uninspired and forced. But hey, whatever keeps making money for the Mouse House.

THE GOOD
Hmmm, I suppose that The Jonas Brothers can play musical instruments?
THE BAD
Was any effort put into these episodes? Better yet, are these guys really that talented?
THE FEATURE
There is a catch to reviewing DVD's. For every title that I want to see, there is usually a title that not only disinterests me, but falls completely outside of my viewing demographic. In this case, that DVD is the second volume (was there ever a first volume?) of the I Heart Jonas compilation. But why should I completely dismiss something so out of my viewing range? Apparently the Jonas Brothers are a huge commodity marketed by Disney and lusted after by many millions of teenage girls. I only know of the brothers, but have never fully experienced their talents. After sampling this DVD, I came to realize why I've never experienced the talent. There is really not much of it.
I will not be getting too detailed, because there are not many details to spare. The DVD contains different episodes of the TV series Jonas. The trio of boys play themselves, except not really. Yes they are rock stars. However, they are also normal teenagers who wander the halls without body guards. Did I mention they wander the halls in glamorous slow motion? You know....like normal teens. In the middle of their wacky misadventures, they break into spontaneous song. These are mostly whiny little tunes about love.
I know that The Jonas Brothers have some talent. After all, they can write and perform music, which is something I can't do. But as a viewer, I am also a critic. While they can sing, they fail to offer a product with a lasting effect. If you are not a teenage girl, then I challenge you to quickly start singing a song from Jonas Brothers. See what I mean? On top of the forgettable music, there is the aforementioned ridiculous plot that insultingly positions the superstars in a mundane setting. It is one thing if they are playing normal kids. However, they are playing themselves, and we all know that in real life they are Disney property.

THE EXTRAS
There is a mere one feature on here called "You've Just Been JoBro'd" in which the brothers surprise Jordin Sparks. Yep, that is pretty much it.
THE VIDEO
The picture is in full screen and resembles the other teenie bopper sitcoms from the Disney Channel with its cheap sets and pop rock soundtrack.
THE AUDIO
The sound is in Dolby Digital. Whether or not you like the sound depends on your taste in the Jonas Brothers.
THE PACKAGE
The discs come in a standard case with a slip sleeve. The front cover pictures the virginal heroes themselves.
THE FINAL WORD
I am pretty sure my verdict is clear. I am a 28-year-old who cannot really relate to this programming. But what I can recognize is talent. These guys can sing, but their product feels so uninspired and forced. But hey, whatever keeps making money for the Mouse House.
