THE CAST:

This film has a very large cast, but the two everyone will be familiar with are Simon Baker (The Mentalist) and Wynona Ryder (Girl, Interrupted). Both give good performances but nothing that is going to win either an award.

DIRECTION, CINEMATOGRAPHY AND SPECIAL EFFECTS:

Photography, special effects, music and editing are all average by today’s standards and pretty much forgettable.

Direction, done by Daniel Waters, is hit and miss, meaning at points it is just great but at other point it is obvious the director lacks directorial experience.

THE GOOD:

It does not necessarily have the best storyline but it is original. Simon Baker was also a good choice for the lead because he is convincing as a womanizer.

THE BAD:

The film lacks magic and is about 30 minutes too long. It gets bogged down with the details and becomes boring at several points.

THE STORY (may contain spoilers):

Roderick Blank is about to be married when he receives a mysterious email, a list of women’s names. It ends up being a list of every woman he has slept with and every woman he will ever sleep with in the future. Now he must re-evaluate everything including his upcoming marriage.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

Standard DVD:

Audio commentary with writer/director Daniel Waters

101 Perversions

REPLAY VALUE:

Below average replay for this film because I think a couple of times are going to be plenty regardless if you are male or female.

BOTTOM LINE:

I really do not feel there are movies that are specific to gender, but people of the male persuasion are sure to enjoy this more than women. This is all because of perspective. I cannot pretend to know if this is a correct representation of how some men really think and feel since I am female. I am not saying it is a bad movie from a girl’s standpoint, I just think guys would enjoy it more because they can relate to the main character.

Thanks for reading.
