THE FEATURE
Not that there was much to contend with after the masterpiece that is Critters 2, but this 4th outing for the 'Krites' is where it all went downhill, and obviously the studio knew it since they never pursued the series further.

I like the idea of the Critters storyline moving away from small town America, but the story seems to have taken the path that every other horror franchise seems to take at one point or another when they take the story out of the creepy next door type of setting...they put everybody in space.

Come on! Space? Did Critters start this horrible trend? I mean, Hellraiser went to space...Jason went to space...

In this 4th outing the 'Krites' have been genetically engineered to take over the universe and Angela Bassett is there to stop them. Nuff' said.
THE EXTRAS
Nothing much in the way of special features here.

DVD-ROM Access, The Original Theatrical Trailer, and the 'other' Critters trailers fill the bill. A bit of a lackluster afair, warranting the 0 star rating.
THE VIDEO
Like each DVD released by New Line Cinema in the series, the DVD is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and a full frame version, New Line has once again provided us with a spectacular transfer! Great colors, great contrast, with no visable artifacts. Another great disc from the studio that respects it's horror.
THE AUDIO
Presented in Dolby Digital 5.1, the soundtrack is superb. You couldn't ask for anything more coming from this 80's B horror movie. You also have the listening choice of a Dolby 2.0 soundtrack which is also crystal clear. The creep factor remains in tact throughout.
THE FINAL WORD
Half stars all around for this DVD. If you're going to get into the Critters series, start at the beginning. If you end up owning the first 3, you might as well polish off the collection and add this disc for the ultimate in Critters storyline digression.
